“Surly Barman”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Arrived at the hotel for one night at the start of a week's touring. Check-in was speedy and the room was big and airy. Grounds and outdoor swimming pool were a delight. Breakfast food had a nice selection. The only disappointment was the evening barman who seemed to take delight in ignoring my friend and me (both ladies). We eventually left without being served and, unfortunately, this is my lasting impression of what, otherwise, was an enjoyable stopover.

This hotel was an average hotel, NOT a 4 star as advertised. Hotel is dated and rooms are all sparsely decorated. Bathroom was ok, with a decent size shower. I had problems with mosquitos in the room. They did give me another room that was better, with a larger bed to compensate the mosquito problem I had. Breakfast is included with hotel stay. Breakfast was alright, and not your typical Spanish breakfast, which is MUCH better. The views from this hotel are beautiful. Its located at the foot of the mountains, facing the sea. The hotel has a pool and terrace, that are very nice. Parking is available with hotel stay...no additional fee. Buses to MIjas town & Fuengirola are available right on the road the hotel is located in. Overall this hotel is ok...but bring bug spray for the mosquitos.

I spent a week at this hotel in September with a large group. I don't know if it would merit four stars in England, but it was more than adequate and we had a great time. The bedrooms were very clean if rather sparse, with not much storage space, and a bath would have been nice - I only had a shower. Bed was comfortable and it was very quiet so I slept well. The food was not very inspiring - rather boring buffet at dinner - but the full English breakfast was good and plentiful. Service in the restaurant was excellent and the staff knowledgable and friendly. The large outdoor terrace was great for lunch, and it was so nice to sit outside before and after dinner with drinks and coffee. The pool and surrounding area was lovely and there were plenty of sunloungers and plenty of space to sunbathe. All in all I had a great week and there was nothing to really complain about.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath - some only have showers.

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a rivera tour. My room was clean although rather dated, and had a juliet balcony. Unfortunately due to heavy rain the window had to stay shut. At the rear of the hotel is a beautiful swimming pool and area with stunning views over the costa del sol. The hotel is in the middle of a residential area so nothing to do outside, but Mijas is literally five minutes away in a taxi and well worth a visit.
Breakfast was good with plenty of choice ...although the coffee is atrocious.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the pool area

People Know that this place is not close to any ammenities thats why its quite so you can unwind. There are regular Buses to Fuengirola 1.45 Euro and to Mijas same price. Fuengirola is a very busy City with large shops if you want Cigs or Purfume. Mijas on the other hand is Beautiful with all White Washed Resturants ( with great views and Shops are plentyful. My Wife and I went for 6 nights from 29th Sept on a A.I basis and found this the most cost effective, Nice Beer ( San Miguel ) and nice Red Wine, White Wine and Cava was a little too sweet ( Demi Sec) but also served nice cocktails to fall back on. The A.I finishes at 12 Noon and our departure was at 18.40 so we kept on our Room at a cost of 30 euros but still had to pay for any drinks and food we had which I thought was a little harsh as we didnt arrive untill 10pm in the evening. Great Wedding Party there from Ireland ( Good Luck to all ) also Best wishes to Jay and Annabell who are still there

Room Tip: Rooms on 3rd Floor have a small Juliet Balcony and great views.

The hotel is typical Audalucian style in a quiet location. There is a main road nearby so access to buses to Mijas and Fuengirola is great. It's in a great location to venture further afield. The rooms are clean but furniture is basic for a 4* hotel compared to other 4* hotels that I have stayed in.. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds with more sunbeds located in an area just off the pool area with views of the sea. There is a nice terrace area to enjoy the sun and have a drink adjacent to the pool area. The staff are courteous and polite. There is a reasonable size bar with numerous tables and chairs and also some settees and chairs in an area with a wall mounted tv. What lets this hotel down is the restaurant. There was adequate choice of food for breakfast, although the staff were a bit slow in refilling hot food when serving trays were nearly empty. The table cloths were not changed after tables had been used so they would be stained and crumbed etc from the previous client. You also had to get your own cutlery and napkins from baskets and set your own table !! Although the quality is good the choice of food at lunch and evening meal was limited and got a bit repetitive over the week I was there. There is a snack menu but being on AlI Inclusive the choice was limited on what you could order off the menu. The hotel does have a problem with mosquitoes. Ask at reception for a plug in deterent or if none available ask for a spray. I didn't find out about this until mid way through my stay after being bitten quite a few times!! Don't let this put you off your holiday though I had a lovely relaxing time and enjoyed my stay at this hotel..

This was our first hotel of a week tour of Southern Spain and it was advertised as a four star but didn't match the rating. We had a room next to the very noisy .elevator and had a very disturbed night with late arrivals and other guest movements. The lunch service was slow and chaoitic as the staff didn't know who ordered what and I got a glass of wine instead of a bottle even though the docket said a bottle. The evening buffet at E18.50 was reasonable value, and unless you took a bus or taxi to and from Mijas itself you were hotel bound.. The breakfast buffet was also quite good. The pillows were sub standard and in general the hotel was only 3 star at best. Would not go there again.

Room Tip: Keep as far from the elevator as possible
