Description: Aroma Café & Secret Garden is a truly unique restaurant on the Costa del Sol. Firstly the restaurant is located in an old house dating to 1872 with many nooks and crannies to discover. Within its walls a whole world opens, starting with arguably Mijas´ most beautiful Andaluz Patio. Follow the Patio to its end and let a whitewashed passage guide you to our gem on the crown, the Secret Garden. Here you will find Mijas as it was a century ago, an enchanted forest of olive, orange, fig and loquat trees. Stroll to the end of this sprawling garden and you will discover an ancient ´water mine´ dating back to the Moorish times. In our garden you will enjoy Argentinean BBQ prepared right before your eyes into the early mornings on warm summer nights. Our celebrity Chef from the Canary Islands meanwhile prepares sumptuous dishes which will tempt you to come back time and again until all that is offered has been tasted! Now just come discover for yourself, our friendly team awaits you!!!

“A wonderful accident”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

My review can only be positive even though the visit was by sheer accident. We had originally intended to visit a local business that has a very good reputation, giving them any form of advertising would be totally wrong as we were totally ignored and left. By chance we stopped and glanced at a menu, this was greeted with a friendly hello frkm the front of house lady, very smiley and polite.

We decided to try as the screen outside showed a terrace that could not be seen from the outside of the building. Little did we know, even though the name "Secret Garden" had been spotted, that we were led into a very well set courtyard like garden, very rural feel with the bbq situated perfectly by the entrance so that everyone who passes can see and smell the delights on offer. The tables we well lit with candles, attentive staff were making everyone feel at home, and that was exactly the feeling we both had, homely atmosphere, chilled ambiance and subtle music in the background.

The staff were not only professional, they were where they should be, when they should be with very good attention to detail.

Having been in the trade for some years, I can honestly say that tiny details are easily overlooked but the owner must be proud if his team as the restaurant was full and not a serious face could be seen. We were served with a smile, made to feel very welcome and the food was exquisite. We tried some new wine from the area which was stunning.

VALUE FOR MONEY: take more than your meal into consideration when marking a restaurant for value, service, setting and ambiance are also ingredients for success.

Wonderful setting with excellent staff and products. This is not only a go back to restaurant, it is a share with your special friends, dont forget to tell them that the only secret is the garden, everything else just shouts class.

“A great place to spend an afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

After walking around the endless bars and restaurants looking for somewhere to escape the blazing sun in the afternoon we stumbled upon this little gem in the centre of Mijas. We were made welcome straight away by the friendly staff even though we only went in for a drink. It was lovely and cool sitting under the shade of the trees in the garden. We ended up having two bottles of wine and tapas as it was so relaxing and left a couple of hours later. This was repeated on another two days it was so easy going. What great afternoons we had and a big thanks to all the staff. It was only a shame we never had the opportunity to have an evening meal there but recommended it to several friends made at the hotel who said it was great.

“Perfect Holiday Finale”

Wish we had found this gem earlier during our fortnight. A brilliant night from start to finish. Food was delicious, setting was delightful and the complimentary vodka caramels were a lovely surprise. Thank You!

“A lovely surprise, totally cool and relaxing after a hillside tour in the hot sun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

Something drew us to a group of lovely wee restaurant bars just off the main streets of Mijas. We were so pleased to find this secret. The food was very good in terms of both quality and value, service was excellent and atmosphere including an eclectic choice of music was relaxing but still exciting. We arrived quite early but soon realised that next time we should book in advance because it became very busy. There was sufficient staff on hand to cope though and the chef was in full control and totally visible to the diners. My wife and I will certainly be back next year to rediscover the sercet.
