My review can only be positive even though the visit was by sheer accident. We had originally intended to visit a local business that has a very good reputation, giving them any form of advertising would be totally wrong as we were totally ignored and left. By chance we stopped and glanced at a menu, this was greeted with a friendly hello frkm the front of house lady, very smiley and polite.
We decided to try as the screen outside showed a terrace that could not be seen from the outside of the building. Little did we know, even though the name "Secret Garden" had been spotted, that we were led into a very well set courtyard like garden, very rural feel with the bbq situated perfectly by the entrance so that everyone who passes can see and smell the delights on offer. The tables we well lit with candles, attentive staff were making everyone feel at home, and that was exactly the feeling we both had, homely atmosphere, chilled ambiance and subtle music in the background.
The staff were not only professional, they were where they should be, when they should be with very good attention to detail.
Having been in the trade for some years, I can honestly say that tiny details are easily overlooked but the owner must be proud if his team as the restaurant was full and not a serious face could be seen. We were served with a smile, made to feel very welcome and the food was exquisite. We tried some new wine from the area which was stunning.
VALUE FOR MONEY: take more than your meal into consideration when marking a restaurant for value, service, setting and ambiance are also ingredients for success.
Wonderful setting with excellent staff and products. This is not only a go back to restaurant, it is a share with your special friends, dont forget to tell them that the only secret is the garden, everything else just shouts class.
