This review is on the very very late side!! My friend and I stayed here in sept. 2011. We were picked up at the airport by Les who couldn't have been more amazing and insightful and funny! It was like riding home with a good friend. We were there when a bunch of other "irish folk" were also there so it felt like we also visited Ireland... we had chats outside by the bar at night about life and politics... we were youngest by a bit, and people there always made sure the "girls" were back. The House is AMAZING!!!! It is just so well done and comfortable you just want to move right it, as if you have been welcome there for years. Our room with two twins had this amazing little balcony and view of the med... and the beautiful backyard and swimming pool. The house is set among other pretty med style spanish houses.. just gorgeous. I have the picture of the view from the balcony at my desk at work.
Coffee in the rooms, drinks, a kitchen to cook. books to read.. friends immediately. Les and david are fantastic hosts... helpful and always willing to help but not intrusive in the slightest. We had a blast at the beach... walked there everyday and ate on the beach for a dinner and a few lunches. All the restaurants we tried in Mijas were great and local people that were so great to us despite our soso spanish!
Never had fresher squid nor had i had smoke sardines in the middle of the day on the beach! Mijas is great.... not crowded like the rest of the area up the coast. We did venture in to the nearby sights, but next time will skip the awful bus ride and crowded tourist areas and hunker down here!
