“Highly Recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

My partner & I stayed at Los Amigos Diamond Resort 15-22 Sept and we absolutely loved it!
The staff were amazing and always so accommodating.
Our room - one bedroom apartment/bathroom/kitchen/living room/balcony - was on the top level over looking the pool which was lovely. Aircon was welcomed in the hot nights!!
Great little supermarket on the complex for the basic necessities.
We ate at the restaurant onsite a few times - food was of a very high standard.

Just up from the resort there's a string of 8ish great little restaurants.

Just at the rear of the resort sits a little taxi rank - local company and very inexpensive.
there is also a bus stop.

We went up into Mijas Village - breathtaking views & some great little shops & Cafes.

The closest Aqua Park - Parque Acuatico Mijas was fairly good - about EUR20 each to get in, with about 10 attractions.

It's worth heading into Fuengirola.
Whilst we were there we did Smile High - Parasailing - this is a must!!!!

One week was not enought!

Back to the Costa Del Sol: this time at the Los Amigos Beach Club. Our one bedroom air conditioned apartment was clean and confortable with a good sized balcony overlooking the main pool. The approach from the main road (A7) is a short distance through a fairly scruffy area, however, the club is a pleasant surprise particularly if you have been a victim of some other Diamond Resorts. At this comfortable and well maintained modern club the staff are pleasant, polite and very helpful. The evening entertainment is variable from the excellent to the not so good. Food from the restaurant is just about adequate but the lack of quality is mitigated by the waiting personnel who are very eager to please. A car is a good idea should you want to visit any of the main local conurbations, sights and a good sandy beach or two. Good shopping and a wide selection of restaurants can be found at Mijas Costa a short drive away. In all a good experience. We did not think we would ever recommend a Diamond resort after falling foul of them a couple of times before but this one is excellent value and an exception.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor.

This hotel was a real surprise: we searched for a hotel near Malaga but on the seaside and at a VERY low price we find a room at Los Amigos. It is a holiday village, with two pools, tennis courts and evening entertainment. Our room was nearly a flat: two TVs, cookers, domestic appliances. It was huge and with a terrace where we had breakfast. We were self-catering, so we went to the restaurant into the hotel: it has english cooking and quite good prices. There are also a supermarket and other restaurants near the hotel. The hotel is situated in a good place to visit Malaga and the Andalusia.

We stayed here the first week of September and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the resort and all of the very friendly and helpful staff. We had a two bedroom unit that is two levels, the bedrooms are upstairs. Everything was modern, clean, and it in excellent condition. We also had a terrace that overlooked the soccer field, and the bottom floor had a small patio with a lockable gate that opened to a grassy area with lounge chairs. The beds were very comfortable, and there are two full bathrooms. There is also a full kitchen, so you don't have to eat out every day. Our room was in a quiet portion of the property, which we really enjoyed. If you want more action, then see about staying near the pool as there are sometimes activities that go late into the evening. The room and location were a perfect fit for my family of four.

The pool was a very nice place to lay in the sun and relax. There is also a bar near the pool, and they have several activities during the week involving the pool. There are plenty of activities on site; tennis, soccer, kids' activity center, ping pong, etc.

Another great thing about this resort is the fact that it is close to many other destinations. We had a rental car so we did a half day trip to Gibraltar, which is about a 90 minute drive. A half day is just about the right amount of time at "Gib". We drove into Gib and then parked in the parking garage, and walked around the main street area. After walking and shopping for about 15-20 minutes, we then hired a man and his van to drive us up to the top of the rock and see all the sites up there. (about 22 pounds each) The price includes the van, guide, and tickets to get into all the sites on the hill. Our guide, Paul, also had a lot more information and history for us as he drove us around. He also knows how to handle the local residents (called Apes, but not big in size) as you tour the area. He can coax them to your shoulder if you want photos. The guide vans were located near the cemetery, before you get to the gondola.

We also arranged a day trip to Tangier, Morocco with Aziz Benami. This was a great experience and Aziz is great, friendly, safe, and reputable guide service. He is recommended by Rick Steves. I set this up mostly through email, and then a couple of phone calls with Aziz when the trip was getting close. He does not need a deposit, and his price (cash) includes the ferry ticket, van, and his guiding. He buys the ferry tickets in advance and then sends a code number to give the person at the ticket office in Tarifa. Lunch and camel rides are extra. Aziz will also help you with bargaining if needed. Tangier was a great experience for all of us. One recommendation is that women should wear long dresses or long skirts as Morocco is primarily a moslem culture and you won't see very many women showing their legs. (This input was from my daughters) You are in safe hands with Aziz, and Tangier is a great experience.

There are plenty of restaurants near by, and there are several on site, as well as a small market on site to buy food and beverages. Of course the coast is beautiful and the beaches are great. We went to the open market in Fuengirola on Tuesday for some shopping, be ready to negotiate prices. After the market we went straight to the beach and rented chairs with umbrellas and spent the rest of the day swimming and sunning. All of this was recommended by the Diamond Resorts staff and it turned out to be a great day.

Very nice resort and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help us out with whatever we needed. We all wanted to stay a few more days!

Room Tip: Rooms near soccer field are quiet.

We have just returned from what we all can describe as a great family holiday in this resort, 2 adults and 2 children (10 & 12). We stayed in a 2 bed, sleep 6 apartment, which overlooked the tennis and football courts this was ideal as you are far enough away from the main entertainment to not be disturbed but close enough if you wish to join in. We took the HB option for 8 of the 14 night stay and although the food was lovely if there had to be a criticism it would be that the staters are to large and the service can get a bit slow after 8 pm due to the amount of people eating, we must make a special mention to Izzy (evening waiter) and the lady who works most of the breakfast shifts (sorry your name escapes us but your daughter works in the evening) for their friendly and happy service. The beach is nothing to write home about but with the 2 pools you have the choice of entertainment with pool bar and everything that comes with it in the main complex pool, or a more relaxed atmosphere at the pool next to the tennis courts. The club is set out in such a way with transport available, that the holiday will be what you want it to be. We will hopefully be visiting again in the future. Thank you again Los Amigos

My daughter and I have just returned from a lovely week in Los Amigos beach club. The standard of everything was high! The cleaning outstanding, especially the pool area. Every day an army of staff were out washing, cleaning and polishing with a smile and Hola to all! We particularly liked the sunbed system which basically meant that any towels left on beds unattended in the morning were removed by the lifeguards and taken to reception, therefore the 'best' beds could not be reserved. The supermarket was not very super however did have essentials such as milk, cereals and ice-cream! There was a good supermarket in Mijas, about 2 miles from the resort, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the resort.
The entertainment was lost on us as we are unsociable (!) however we used the sauna, jacuzzi and indoor pool in the evening which was beautiful and a real treat.
All in all we were very happy with everything at los amigos and would love to go back one day!

Room Tip: Above the bar is not so good unless you intend to be in the bar until after midnight!
