Visited Ramos Pinto one the many wine/port houses across the river from Porto. Ramos Pinto is less well known in the US so it had our attention right away. The tour consisted of an introduction by an English speaking guide. Our group had about 20 people in it.
One of the unique features of the tour was the office of Ramos Pinto the way it appeared in the early 20th century. The guide also provided several stories about Pinto's unique marketing ideas.
Then it was onto the cellar and another brief presentation on the production of port and the different types produced. The good part of the tour was the time duration. It lasted 35 / 40 minutes and while it was informative it wasn't so technical or overbearing that you became bored.
At the conclusion there was a tasting along with the ability to purchase. We selected 2 bottles and the staff was very helpful packing them in a wine bottle "skin" as protection in our luggage
It was a nice hour to spend learning more about a true Portuguese product
