“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The views from the restaurant are spectacular, especially in the outside eating area. We decided to have the Chefs Special menu - the smaller of the two tasting menus. The tasting menu consisted of around 7 dishes (although in fact you receive nearer 12 in all when done) and while we waited for the first course a selection of amouse bouchée were served. All were beautifully presented and very tasty. We were looking forward to starting our menu.

Unfortunately while the presentation of each dish from the menu was exquisite the flavour wasn't. Quite a few dishes were bland and while some of their components added vibrant colour and impact in presentation, they had very little to sometimes no flavour. I can remember just 2 dishes, one of those was spectacular, the other OK, and the rest forgettable. This meant that the 3 plus hours it took to get through the menu was quite tiring and sadly boring because we lost interest in the food. For a tasting menu to work each dish must have that wow factor in both flavour and presentation, and it shouldn't take 3 hours to deliver. This was definitely not a Michelin star experience.

Avoid. I recommend you try the excellent O Paparico instead. Perfection!

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

Relaxing dining with some of the most beautiful views if the weather holds and you can sit outside. Service is attentive but not too formal and the food was amazing and creative. Wine pairing with the menu is also a good way to experience many different local wines.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

We visited twice in the last week and on both occasions the meal and wine pairings were faultless. The three sommeliers were very switched on and made the meal a real treat. Food was of the highest standard and probably deserves 2stars. Fantastic view.

“The best setting we've ever had a meal in....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

We were given a voucher for a taster menu as a gift, so to celebrate our 30 years together we decided to have a special night in Porto ( we live 2 hours away). First the restaurant terrace overlooks Porto from Gaia, it was a very hot day yesterday and we nearly did not sit outside. But were glad we did, a fabulous setting. The staff are very attentive but not creepy. We had different taster menus each and the accompanying wines. All was superb, especially some of the wines. We even had some extra courses when there was a delay with one of the options, and the wine was refilled regularly....no stingy 1 glass only per course. Excellent. It is expensive, even for Portugal, but we're glad we experienced it.

“A wonderfull experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

I will join the crowd and rave about the Yeatman restaurant. I am no novice to Michelin stared restaurants and this is one of the best I have been to and probably the best of the one star restaurants I have eaten in. We had the small tasting menu and everything was just about perfect. High quality and imaginative cooking done with local and mainly inexpensive ingredients - but of the highest quality
and freshness. Everything was tasty and beautiful to look at. We had wine by the glasses and were very well adviced by the young and pretty female somalier. The service was unobtrusive, not pompous and very friendly. The total experience of sitting on the balcony with the sun setting over the marvelous view of Porto and the seagulls floating and pirouetting in the sky added to our enjoyment. The price for this very satisfying evening was what you would expect in this class of Establishment. A unique dinning experiment.
