“Great 2 hour walk with beautiful scenery ! Free.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Easy to find with good parking this is a tough 3 hour walk up and down and around the cliffs etc but worthwhile with beautiful scenery all the way.
Stout boots and a packed lunch recommended as there are absolutely no facilities of any kind on the peninsula.
Head for heights required in some places as the walk passes some 600 foot drops in places.

“POSSIBLY THE BEST SHORT WALK ON THE ISLAND!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Cornwall has some great costal scenery but nothing like this! A new view with every twist and turn of the well-protected path......and the colours of the rocks are absolutely amazing! lovely 'oasis' museum just before the final (optional but highly recommended) climb.

“A walk in a mineral area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Very nice walk, with surprising sights on colored rocks and the sea. The path is a bit difficult due to many steps and stones on the way, and was very cold due to wind when we got there. Don't expect to find any food there, you have to be autonomous during your walk. From Funchal, it's easy to go to Baia d'Abra by bus. While you are on the way, it's worth having a stop in Machico.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

If you go to Madeira, you have to visit "Ponta de São Lourenço".

What an amazing views, breathtaking. In places like this we have a reality check: we are nothing compared to nature and to it's wonders.

Just take a coat because it get's very windy there. And take a camera! :)

“Great costal walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

A really nice steady costal walk. Views are extremely good and it's easy to see Porto Santo and The Desertas on most days. Pretty safe and manageable for all ages and abilities with care. It has good hand rails in lots of places and not too many risky bits. At 8km there and back (steepish in places) I would say it's better to allow at least 3 hours, especially if you intend taking photos. Couple of pointers.. there are not really any toilets or facilities and you should have sturdy footwear. We noticed some very in-appropriate footwear during our walk.
