“MacArthur's Mother”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

In the Berkley neighborhood of Norfolk a memorial to General Douglas MacArthur's mother can be found. The house has been demolished but original bricks were saved to build the walls of the site. These bricks date back through centuries past to early Norfolk. Her you will find two plaques that describe who Mary Hardy was and is a unique respite among the local shipyard. Gen. MacArthur dedicated the site and the memorial dedicated to him in downtown Norfolk is there because he thought very highly of his mother and her home town.
