Last night my husband and I, along with two friends, went to the Freemason Abbey Restaurant for their Friday night Wild Game Dinner. Unfortunately, the wild game entrees were not wild at all. They offered duck, which can be bought in any grocery store, a lamb dish, which, too, can be purchased locally, and some sort of "fish cheeks" dish. Anyway, we decided to get appetizers to share (fried tomatoes with goat cheese, artichoke dip, fried oysters, and--oh yes--the fried alligator bits, which really were the only thing remotely considered "wild). We each had soup. No entrees. What we did have was good; however, we went specifically for the wild game. We live in Williamsburg, VA, so the drive took over an hour. Overall, because of the wild game menu lacking in wild game, we were all disappointed.
