“Had a great time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

We went for the ice cream and got great, fun service from our car hop! She was very fun and made us laugh. The ice cream treats we all ordered were delicious and everything that we expected based upon what we had read about the place. The only reason for not getting an excellent rating was that we were hassled by a guy looking for bus money while on the lot.

“A Piece of History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

I went here based on a suggestion in a magazine for BBQ fanatics. Got to be honest the BBQ was just ok. The sides and the Ice Cream were very good. Still a Norfolk landmark. How cool is it to go to an old drive in. Answer: Very. Advertises that it invented the waffle cone going back to St. Louis World's Fair and from what I have read on other sites seems to be true. There are other restaurants that I would probably go to for dinner, but for lunch (particularly without busting your budget) Doumar's is a good option.

“Vintage Drive-In”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

This drive in claims to be the inventor of the waffle cone for ice cream, and they do have really good ones, with several flavors of delicious ice cream. Burgers and that stuff, too.

“Great Local Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

Always get a couple barbeque sandwiches with slaw and a large limeade. Always good food. Closed on Sundays.

“Old Fashioned - Takes Me Back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

Gotta love the old drive-ins, even though no one today wears skates. When we stopped, it was only 11 am - but the place was packed. The ice cream was so smoothest and creamiest I've ever had. They topped it with fresh whipped cream. Obviously, this is why the place was packed so early in the morning. I had the Strawberry Willie which was broken up pieces of ice cream cones with a strawberry sauce. The cone pieces are also fresh, made daily. For service, you can sit in your car and a server will come to you, or choose a seat inside. The counter is old, old fashioned, not retro - but kept in good condition. This is a must stop if you're anywhere near it. If you're not, get there.
