“Good Facilities. Horrible Staff”
This is the second time that I've stayed at this hotel, and I doubt that I'll be coming back. First, let me say that I think that the hotel facilities are good to excellent. The room, while not brand new, was extremely clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable ones that I've slept in on my many business trips this year. The free wireless (that actually works in the hotel room - not always the case) is a plus, and the gym is phenomenal as far as hotel gyms go, complete with newer TV-attached cardio equipment and free weights. Some reviewers have mentioned the location as being questionable, and I will admit that I wouldn't go running around the area by myself, but if you're just here for business, then it's not really an issue. Then again, I had a rental car. If I were on a vacation and all of my stuff was in the car, I might have issues. So the facilities and the room were good, and if the staff had even partially measured up to the hotel in which they work, I would definitely recommend this hotel. However, based on my experience - no way. By and large, the hotel staff, especially the restaurant staff, have a general attitude that they're doing you a favor just by talking to you. Rudeness by itself isn't really a big issue to me, but when combined with, it starts to grate on your nerves.
When on travel, I like to try and get some work done in the morning while I eat breakfast, so I usually order room service using the little door tag menu that Hilton hotels offer. On the first night of my stay, I filled out the card and hung it on the door around 9:30PM, well before the midnight "deadline" indicated on the card. When I woke up the next morning and got my paper from in front of the hotel room door (about 6:45AM), the tag was still there. No one had taken it. I called down to the restaurant and asked if I could just call in my order, and specified 3 TIMES that I would like breakfast delivered at 7:30. At 7AM, I get a knock on the door from room service, carried by a guy who wasn't in a uniform and looked like he had just stepped out of a rap video (baggy jeans, tent-like shirt, hat on). I'm not paranoid, and I let him in, reiterating that I had asked several times for the breakfast to be delivered at 7:30, and he apologized curtly and set down the tray. After he left, I wondered if he had just been the boyfriend of one of the restaurant staff or something. I went down to the buffet after that experience, and the food was fine, but ironically, the wait staff were agonizingly slow every meal after the initial speedy delivery. Overall, I would recommend the hotel if you're staying for 1 night only and on business, but not for longer stays, and definitely not if you're on vacation and paying your own hard-earned money for this place.
