“Just got to have the Picanha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

I haven't had Picanha anywhere else in Madeira, so I can't tell you if this is the best. If it isn't among the best, I would be surprised (although I am told the best one is in Funchal).

Every other review here will explain that Picanha is a cut of beef where they actually char it on the outside. They then carve thin strips off it. On one side, cooked and seasoned; on the other side fairly raw. It might not sound brilliant - but it is.

This is my second time. The last time I swore I would eat less of the beans, bread, cabbage etc. The meat is pretty much unlimited, so filling yourself up on the stodge isn't that smart.

And, whatever you do, leave room for the pineapple which is cooked a similar way. Hot pineapple is delicious and perfect for helping digest a kilo of meat.

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

I probably am one of the most difficult people to keep happy and satisfied when ordering steak at a restaurant. BUT to tonight was an exception to the rule. The steak on a stone was fabulous. Combine this with the attentive caring staff it was an extremely pleasant experience. We can well recommend this restaurant.

“back again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

the quality of this restraunt never ceases, high and together with attentive service is a must for visitors and locals alike. the amount of food available to you is what you want to eat ,you will never go hungry here. the quality of the beef picanha (brazillian sliced steak) is fantastic and you can have it from blue to well done , not exspensive and will look forward to going back.

“meat, meat and more meat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We visited this restaurant on two occasions as we were so impressed after our first meal there. The staff were very friendly, you were greeted with a complimentary glass of Madeira wine, and the service was superb. On top of all of that the Boco de Caco, otherwise known as their local garlic bread made from sweet potato was excellent and a more than ample portion. The menu choice was very good, ranging from the local scabbard fish through a full range of meats.

I had the mini rodizio at €13.50, which was a selection of 7 meats and it just kept coming. It was fresh, well cooked and was followed up with fresh grilled pineapple.

The total bill for an evening meal with drinks for three people came to €55.00, which included a tip; what fantastic value. I just don't how they do it at that price.

“Restaurant for tourists”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

In this restaurant the show is more important than the food. The waiters run around with the food yelling meep, meep. Our first course was good, but the main dish was disappointing. Looking around we saw that people got more meat than could ever eat. So when the quality of the food is more important than the show you should avoid this restaurant.
