“Great Local Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

We found this restaurant after asking the receptionist at the Pestana Vila Sol Hotel for a recommendation. The restaurant is situated in a quiet back street and is could be difficult to find without local knowledge. The interior is bright, definitely not luxurious but functional. The place is run by a family which is headed by Gracas. The menu is limited but fantastic based on dishes from the north of the country. We visited twice and the first time had the lamb and the second time black pork. Both were delicious. There were two starters to choose from, grilled cheese or freshly carved palma ham. Both were great. We tried the house wine, red and white and they offered fantastic value at 10 euros for a litre carafe. We will definitely go back again. Our bill for 4 came to 124 Euros. This included 2 litres of wine.

“A-MA-ZING restaurant, real local feel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

If you are ever in the Algarve, you must find this restaurant. We had the platter of black pork and some local wine and it was one of those meals that I often dream of when I order similar food elsewhere... and nowhere else ever lives up!

The owners, Rui and Graca, and their family, give the best service and fantastic wine recommendations and the food is top quality... and it's all incredibly reasonably priced.

In summary: go. You'll be missing out if you don't.

“Very nice "paleta de borrego" (lamb)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

I usually do not like lamb meat, but their "paleta de borrego" (roasted lamb) was just delicious. I don't know about the other dishes, but this one is really worth the visit.

I was only a bit disappointed about the "alentejano" pudding (dessert). In the traditional recipe the pudding is covered with caramel, but this one was covered with chocolate instead - not a good choice in my opinion.
