“Excellent value for money !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We went to this hotel and area based mainly on price as some of the reveiws were not very complimentary ...... when we got there we were greated warmly by the hotel staff and everything was explained clearly .... the rooms were clean and comfortable and yes only one uk tv station but really have you gone there to watch tv or to have a holiday !!!
Every day without fail our room was cleaned .. beds made and fresh towels put in the bathroom !
The food was what you would expect for the price you pay and always fresh bread if you dont fancy the soup, fresh salads, meat or fish dishes ... breakfast you could have fresh bread, toast with butter and jam, marmalade or honey ..... choice of three cerials and milk and a fried breakfast .. again during the mealtimes the staff were attentive and cleared your table between courses and the barman would come round asking what you would like to drink !!
The hotel offers free wi fi and this was the case , just a matter of asking for the password at reception and worth noting this only worked in the foyer not in your room but nethertheless was still a bonus.
The bar was well equiped and the cocktail of the day was always worth a try , the sangria and port were very good too and for those who wanted to watch football or watch an mtv type show this was on a big screen in the bar
The area itself was laid back and clean ... the beach was lovely though the sea would be more suited to body boarding rather than floating on a lilo in january when we went anyway !
The odd night after the all inclusive had ended on the hotel bar we went down into the town and a bar called the drunken duck was worth a visit for cocktails , kareoke and a laugh a minute time ... on both visits time flew and we didnt leave before 2 am !!!
We will i'm sure be going back to the hotel Aismar if we ever visit the algarve again !!!!

Room Tip: We were on the 8 th floor and had a lovely view of the sea room 806 ... you could also see the pool...

Went to Atismar for the second time in 2 years. Rooms are great, breakfast bit Samish. Location fab as only 2 mins walk to sea front and easy walking either way. Weather was great about 9 each day. Day out to Albufera was interesting, takes about 40 mins on bus, cost about £20 for 2 persons. Go the Gypsy bus station and get local bus to the Square, its absolutely great. It was fun to see locals in boots, coats and scarves, wrapped up , after all it is their winter. Whilst we were sleeveless tops and shorts. TV in the rooms has only 1 station - bit disappointed but hey on a budget nothing at all to complain about. Anyone who can complain about this hotel needs their head examined. Great stay and price is worthy of remembering for a second visit. I am 70 and my son is 45 - we will be returning again - I hope before another 2 year gap.

Room Tip: ask for front facing or pool facing room for best time of all.

First of all, Quarteira is not your usual holiday resort, it is more of a working portugese town, with a working fishing harbour complete with fish market. On the plus side, there is not your typical tourist shops. It has good beaches with a nice pedestrianized prom, with a few bars and restaurants. 30 minutes stroll will take to Vilamoura marina, where there are a few more bars, although more expensive. The hotel, is literally on the beach, one street back, so about a minute walk. The rooms are OK, clean and comfortable although a little dated, the reception area comfortable with free wifi. The pool is quite small with only a few sunbeds, but with it being so close to the beach, not really a problem. Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down, not a lot of choice, we ate out every night. Cannot fault the staff, polite helpful. So overall, if you are looking for a base, its fine but not brilliant.

My husband and I travelled here and felt like we had come to a saga holiday!! There were ourselves and 4 other couples under 60!
We booked it as a cheap holiday but we go all inclusive so that we do not need so many spends...we ate out more times than we ate in! We were a little out of season so not everywhere was open around the hotel but we found a lovely English pub towards the centre who were very accommodating, very well priced and served a lovely Sunday dinner.
We are not fussy eaters and barely eat out on holiday but one lunch I couldn't face anything othe than the chips at the hotel and that is not me at all!
Breakfast was ok but the lunch generally seemed to be leftovers from the night before! The evening food varied.
The entertainment was nil! There is a tiny television in the bar area for an evening or a slightly larger TV in the pool bar through the day. If there was no football on then they generally had the same 8 songs on a music channel over and over.
They did allow you to take some drinks to your room after the all inclusive had finished and they did have an irish cream in the all inclusive option which was good.
We did have a good holiday but this was mainly down to drinking in the english pub and us and the other 4 couples joining together as the young ones!
Not recommended for anyone under 65!!!

Just spent a week here, mainly full of elderly/retired people. Location excellent, rooms OK, food is shocking! spent a lot of money eating out, white wine disgusting, red wine drinkable, it is hotel policy apparently that diet coke etc is not part of the all inclusive deal so if for medical reasons you need sugar free drinks you are made to pay for it, which is not acceptable. The staff are trying hard and were all very helpful and friendly all except one small barman with glasses (no idea of his name) he was very rude to us when we asked about diet drinks. We spoke to the manager and he did not seem to care, just shrugged his shoulders, he gave the impression that he didn't, care because he knew we would not be back! To summarise use the hotel as a base, don't go all inclusive, plenty of places out and about to eat and drink.

Room Tip: High floor rooms 801/2 good view of sea, instead of road.

We booked this break last Easter with Travel republic as a package, flight and accommodation.
The flight was with Ryan air, 3 months before we were due to go Ryan air decided to cancel all flights to Faro from Glasgow until April. So we contacted Travel republic who basically shrugged their shoulders and said it was not their problem as they view the flight and hotel as separate purchases, even though they were booked together. At our own extra cost we got flights with easy jet (over £100 more).
The Atismar is a 3* hotel and in my view operates at the top end of this, the rooms were very basic, but clean (CRT Tv, bathroom door didn't shut properly, the locks on the doors were of the loud closing variety) . All the rooms had a balcony.
The food was good and although not much choice, I never struggled to get a good meal.
The bar was fine, beer good and very good included spirits, downside it shut at 10 (upside of this is that you try other places)
Staff were helpful and sorted out bookings for us.
Weather wasn't the best, but it was January
Had a very good jeep safari with Extremo, that the hotel booked for us.
Travel republic also messed up the transfers and we were woken up at 5am on the day we were leaving as the transfer was there, told our hotel reception that we weren't being picked up until 3.30pm and they sorted it ( transfer company was very good, no waiting when we arrived, and also picked up on time (once sorted))
On the whole Quarteria was not really for me, maybe in the summer.
The hotel was good value for money (don't expect 5*)
The staff were very good
Food really good, choice limited (it's a small hotel)
Bar good again good staff.
Hotel location is one block off the sea front 2 mins if that, no busy roads to cross, believe some of the higher rooms got a seaview, the seafront has a good promenade with a variety of bars, cafe's and restaurants, and shops.
Beach was clean and plenty of facilities
1/2 hour walk to Vila Mora which is a posh marina, with posh restaurants and shops, plus sea fishing and sea tours.

Perfect location a 2min walk to the shore and as near to the hub as you could want to be. Lots to do even at the very start of summer with the local Dia do Pescador (Fisherman's Day) festival's taking place just 5mins down the waterfront (this was in very early June).

The hotel's staff, from front desk to barpersons all went out of their way to provide quality service at the slightest opportunity.

Fantastic vibe and would definitely return.
