What an amazing hotel this was!
Ideal for a holiday to Italy located nearby to the beach and many other tourist attractions including Venice, Verona and Jesolo Village. If you wanted to travel a little further afield, there is always Lake Garda, with some absolutely fantastic scenery and views.
A quick walk from the hotel and you're at the beach. Each hotel in the area has its own designated area of the beach (which is approximately 11 miles long), Hotel Sheila has an area for its holiday makers to sunbathe down by the sea, or sit and relax!
The hotel was recently refurbished in 2006, and has been well looked after since. Each apartment has its own balcony area, perfect for sitting out on to watch the sunset after a busy day of touring!
Public transport is also very easy to get to. The bus stop is a short walk away although you have to buy your bus passes from the local newsagents. We used the buses to get to Punta Sabbioni (where the ferry docks from) and from there, the ferry takes you directly to Venice whereby you can tour St. Marcs Square, and the narrow alleyways of shops and restaurants; Or even over the bridges to watch Gondolas travelling below you. Venice is a place you must visit, if you have time!
If you booked Self Catering, then try out some of the nice restaurants in the surrounding area, there’s plenty of restaurants and snack bars along the main street for you to keep busy!
At night time, the main street opens up and becomes pedestrianised, so that no vehicles are allowed to pass through; all of the shops, restaurants and bars open so that you’re free to explore at your own pleasure!
Going back to the hotel, the rooms are very spacious, in the main room, the bed can be folded away to form a sofa, and the spare bed also pulls down from what looks like a cupboard!
The kitchen came fully equipped with all of the necessary utensils, a microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, oven hobbs and a dishwasher (if you’re going to use the dishwasher, bring some tablets along, these can be difficult to locate in the Italian supermarkets!). Also equipped in both rooms were LCD TVs, with a wide selection of channels, including Sky News & BBC News and electric lockers, which are provided free of charge to keep any valuables safe during your stay.
Both rooms had separate balconies, which could be accessed via the rear of the rooms. The doors onto the balcony and windows all had electric shutters, enabling you to press a button to expand or retract them. When closed, they keep the room sound-proofed so you can’t hear anything that’s going on outside. The balconies both had tables and chairs, thus the main balcony included a washing maiden.
The pool in the hotel is relatively large and is open until midnight, allowing you to relax perfectly on a hot summer’s day in Jesolo – although be warned, it can be cold at night!
To sum up, Aparthotel Sheila is a very nice, modern, clean hotel, close to many tourist attractions and local amenities or areas of interest. All of the staff members were very friendly, polite and helpful throughout the course of our stay.
I’d recommend this hotel to any families wishing to travel to a part of Europe with nice weather (in the warmer months) and visit some local attractions.
Alternatively, if you’d just like a quiet holiday by the pool or on the beach, the Sheila Hotel is for you!
