“Hotel Margherita,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2007

if you're expecting a palacial room, think again, the rooms are v small by american standards, but that said its not the kind of hotel you spend alot of time in - due to its proximity to beach

shower is venetian, ie no shower curtain but not huge problem, ie no leaking etc.

pro's: lovely staff, very helpful, very friendly. dinner in hotel does vary, so you're not eating the same thing every night, food is very fresh

main bonus is its less than 2 mins walk to the beach, which is lovely. - hotel reserves sun bed @ beach under their allocation but you have to say it to them first.

jesolo itself is very italian, dinner + walkies up and down the town seems to be the main preoccupation, we found it quiet enough, but again this is what we wanted -its no party town!

Cons. language barrier is the main problem. Jesolo is very italian and also serves the german market so english is not well spoken there. personally i didnt mind this too much but it did cause probs for some other people staying there.

there's no 'welcome to margherita' when u arrive, due to the language barrier, its very much find your own way around, e.g we found out about sunbeds through this website, not from staff at hotel.

plus also, take note, first night you're at the hotel, you get menu for the next night's dinner, and get whatever's available your first night.

to be fair the hotel is clean, well run, and its location by the beach is superb. would recommend for families with small children, a quiet get away, but wouldnt recommend for couples on a romantic trip or folks looking to party.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2006

Our stay was for 1 week as part of a half board package deal. We arrived with about 14 others and check in was quite rapid even though reception is only manned by a couple of staff. It’s a small family run Hotel. Staff were polite and friendly on the whole, with some difficulties communicating with a couple of the staff who had poor english.

The hotel has bright and airy Venetian style decor. We had a double en-suite room with single bed and balcony overlooking the street below. While the room wasn’t too large, it was very clean. The en-suite was Adriatic style with open shower. This was a real pain as it meant the floor of the bathroom flooded after each shower and took some time to drain away.

The evening meal consisted of typical Italian fare and was on the whole rather good and the choice varied. The resort itself had loads of restaurants to choose from at rather good prices too. Breakfast was continental style buffet with cold meats, cereal bread and eggs and was adequate.

One of the best things about the hotel is its proximity (50m) to the rather nice clean beach. Each hotel room had its own pair of sun beds and umbrella reserved at no extra cost. This was a real bonus!

As lido di jesolo is quite near to Venice we purchased a Venice day card in a local tobacconist and made our own way to Venice. This was much cheaper then one of the organised trips and allowed us as much time as we needed in Venice. We managed to team up with 4 others to share a gondola, which saved us quite a bit too.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Margherita and would definitely recommend it, although it helps to have a little Italian to make yourself understood.
