“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

We returned last week after having a wonderful week at this hotel. We felt like we had been invited into the family home. The rooms are small but comfortable, the pool is lovely but we enjoyed the beach because we could pop for a drink at the bar (there isn't a pool bar at the hotel). The meals at D'annunzio are faultless, whatever you want they will do for you.The vibe is just spot on and the fact that so many people return year after year says it all,one couple were on their 10th visit!!! We never visit the same place twice as its a big world and lots to see...however...this place has stolen our heart and we shall be returning in the future.

This was a remark made to us whist staying here last week and I can only concur! I'm quite perplexed about the negative reviews about this hotel and suggest that some travelers have overly high expectations or are very fussy. I admit I am not fussy and neither is my husband but we know the difference between a decent and poor experience.

The hotel is great with welcoming and friendly staff; if you need help they will gladly provide it. The hotel is spotless. The food is fine and you get huge portions. Yes the breakfast is continental but hey, it's what you get abroad! I've traveled to lots of places and you only get full English brekkie in England! If you go on holiday and want a full English...stay in blighty!!

Looking at the other reviews here I've sussed out that we had the small non balcony room that others complain about here. I knew I wasn't getting a balcony but the hotel is a base from which to have your holiday. I can understand requiring a larger room if you have children but our room (15) was fine. Great shower, hairdryer in bathroom - all good! Yes there is a TV set in the room but even if it does only have one channel, do you go on holiday to Italy to watch the telly?!!

This was our first time here and although many people return every year we were not treated differently at all in fact we felt very comfortable there. To be honest, the bar on the front 'Friends' is probably the nicest one there; good prices for drinks, TV for the footy fans (English and Italian!) quiz night and great for 'people watching' or relaxing with a Venetian spritz. We visited Venice, Verona, cycled, walked, spent time on the beach.

Every resident we spoke to had good things to say about the hotel and staff. If you are looking for a good hotel I would recommend this without hesitating.

Outstandingly friendly and caring owners makes for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. This hotel has character. Bedrooms are quite typical for Italy, compact, clean and these have excellent aircon (45 euro extra - well worth it in 38 degrees!- after all you are on holiday). Public areas are clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast in Italy is never great, a roll and jam with canteen style coffee is typical. D'annunzio goes just a little better - but not much! In contrast the evening meal is really very good. 7pm half board menu (with several choices) is Italian home cooking. Always the option of fresh salads or pizza/pasta. Very large portions. Efficient service. Don't expect to sit for hours!
The pool area is a lovely place to be, mostly quiet, plenty of seating and shade.
The hotel has cycle hire for e2 per hour or a daily rate.
The 'Friends' bar is just that - a place to relax, enjoy a drink or two, a bit of banter with Maurizio and watch the world go by.
Drinks/food prices are reasonable e2.50 for a Spritz, e5.50 for pizza, e2.00 for coffee.
Lido Di Jesolo is a very clean purpose built beach resort, no yobbos here, a mix of ages and nationalities make for an ideal family resort. Plenty to do if you like the beach, cycling, strolling, cafes, bars and restaurants. The added bonus of the culture of the Venetian lagoon within 40 to 100 minutes travel.
One reviewer mentioned being made to feel guilty about drinking elsewhere. I always assume a hotel makes little money from a low to mid priced half board 'package' holiday and therefore relies on customers spending something on drinks, snacks etc in the hotel. I don't suppose the D'annunzio is any different. It certainly did not seem to be an issue for us or any of the families I spoke to - and we had coffees and ice creams across the road on several occasions - infact Maurizio waved (I think that's what it was!)
Overall a great family hotel and resort.

Room Tip: pay euro45 for bedroom aircon in july/august

Felt I had to review this hotel as alot of peoples comments on here don't give the honest and real experience of this hotel. Booked this hotel through Thomas Cook for a week for the first week in July 2013. The hotel is right in the heart of Jesolo with the beach being only a 2 minute walk away, hotel has it's own section of beach with deckchairs...perfect. Staff can't do enough to help and their english is amazing. Breakfast was a bit of a letdown for me as it was purely continental, toast, ham cheese, prunes and a few cereals not what i would choose. Dinner was out of this world, waitress service, plenty of choice and the food was delicious, never felt like we had to eat out atall. So onto the downsides...the rooms are very small, I couldn't push the pushchair into mine had to lift it over the bed, but this is usual for hotel rooms in Italy. If your room is by the stairs or lift then it is noisy at night and early in the morning as people don't have any consideration, if you don't pay extra for the air con(which we didn't) then it gets hot at night!
So all in all it was one of the best holidays I have had, would I go back to this hotel?? Yes but would pay for the air con and wouldn't have a room without a balcony or by the stairs.

Before we departed for our well earned summer holiday I read reviews on Trip Advisor and to honest a lot of you out there got it spot on. The rooms were small and air conditioning is 90 euros for 2 weeks ! The tv only picks up 1 uk channel and that's bbc world news. The menu is poor and needs some imagination and remember be in the dinning room at 7pm prompt. This is so the staff can get you all in and fed as quickly as possible so they can concentrate on the paying customers in `Friends Bar`. The meals come fast , 3 courses in 20 minutes there`s a real rushed atmosphere in the dinning area. The staff are friendly enough and as stated in other reviews `Maurice` (as he calls himself) is very attentive to those who spend plenty on drinks. He has a gift of making guests who venture and drink elsewhere feel guilty, and you almost have to sneak out and back in to avoid `Maurices` betrayed glance. The hotel itself is clean but in need of a facelift. The resort is expensive and offers nothing you couldn`t pick up at home from local shops at a fraction of the price. To sum up, the hotel and resort are what you would have experienced in spain maybe 30 years ago.

Room Tip: Choose room at front of hotel on 1st floor

August 2013. First time in Italy travelled with my husband and 2 children aged 15 and 17. Wanted to find something suitable for every party member and we were not disappointed. The hotel was small which gave it a lovely personal touch. The owner (Maurice) was always around to help and he and his staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had a 2 roomed bedroom which was great for the age of my family and gave my teenagers some personal space. From speaking to other families the one bedded rooms were a little on the small side so take this into account if you do have older children but no complaints though all rooms were cleaned daily and had everything in them you needed even hairdryer was supplied. Breakfast was very continental with ham and cheeses but you can ask for english breakfast if you wish but will be charged about 3 euro extra. Evening meal was 3 courses which consisted of a traditional Itialian main course, if this wasn't to your taste you could substitute this with an alternative from a very large choice. We opted for the traditional most evenings and were not disappointed with the food. If you wanted to change your evening meal to lunch you could Air conditioning was an extra which we did pay for costing 45 euros for the week and it was a bonus as temperatures reached 38 degrees during the day and didnt drop below 25 in the night. The pool was a lovely size and had no trouble getting a deckchair at anytime of the day so no need to be up a dawn with your towel!! The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and again this was a beautiful beach with the hotel having its own part free of charge. I was concerned at first as I had heard the beach described as a 'sunbed farm' so had it in my mind that it was going to be very overcrowded but this wasnt the case, yes, there was rows and rows of beds but all belonged to different hotels but they weren't all full. The resort caters for couples and families alike of all ages but if you want 'Magaluf' then it is not for you. Although our hotel was mainly British there are not many in the resort being a mainly Italian holiday destination. The Italians are lovely people, would I go back? Most definately.

We booked on a Half Board Basis, as it was cheaper than B & B, which is what we really wanted.
The hotel itself was in a lovely situation, just 2 minutes walk from the Beach, with a well presented pool area. It wouldn't have been suitable for younger children, as was 1.4 meters at the shallowest end, but meant we could actually swim and there was always places to sit in either sun or shade.
Friends bar was very comfortable and, being on a corner, had a very welcome breeze. The staff were all very very welcoming and happy to do anything for you.
We had twin rooms sleeping 4, but with only 2 adults in each room. This was comfortable - if there were 4 of us per room it would have been very cramped and I would not have fancies sleeping on the sofa bed. My Daughter had a single room, which again was just big enough - however, it had 2 beds in and would have been extremely cramped with 2 people.
Inclusive meal times were rigid - breakfast 6.45 - 9, when everything was cleared away and the choice very poor. Only one of our party bothered with breakfast after the first day and we heard similar comments from other guests. Anything exotic like pastries, cooked food or decent tea/coffee could be had but paid for extra.
Dinner was at 7 - no exceptions, and a 3 course meal over by 8 at latest. We didn't bother, as it was far too early, but did swap our dinner to lunch, which was useful but not perfect.

Room Tip: First floor rooms at the front have very large balconies (but no furniture) and good view of teh str...
