We have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Ambasciatori Palace and I feel compelled to pre-warn those travelling to or considering staying at this hotel. I will start with the good points. The hotel is clean and the maids changed the towels and cleaned the rooms daily. The location is excellent right at the centre of the resort. There the good points end.
The hotel decor is straight out of 1970's eastern europe. It is extremely dated and the communal areas are dark and dingy. The pool was freezing and covered in leaves. We stayed half board and on the first morning turned out for breakfast which was adequate with a decent range of cereal, cakes and cooked breakfast. However halfway through breakfast a waiter approached our table and without saying a word moved all of our plates and us to another table. Do not under any circumstances sit anywhere other than directed by the staff!
We read the menu for the evening meal on the first day which was extremely limited and clearly very cheap to put together. It consisted of a few pasta dishes, pork chops, and 1 vegetarian option. We opted to go out not only for more choice but also to escape the drearyness of the hotel. We checked the menu on a daily basis out of curiosity rather than any wish to eat at the hotel. The menu did change daily or should I say the order of the meals changed daily. The hotel moved the same dishes around the menu to give the impression of variety rather than actually delivering any real choice.
Now for the rooms. We were on the 5th floor which provided a great view of Jesolo once you had climbed over the bed to get to the balcony. I have stayed in Italy many times before and I am fully aware that the rooms are generally smaller but this was laughable. There was a 1 foot gap at best between the bed and the dressing table which made moving around the room an obstacle course for two people. The light fitting was hanging off and the TV must have been purchased as colour televison was introduced. There were two electrical points in the room one of which was for the fridge which kept your drinks mildly warm. The other electrical point required a leap of faith every time you plugged something in.
The bathroom was clean but again the decor was bulgarian retro! If you like peace and quiet this is not the hotel for you as it is next to the the busiest bar in town which pumps out music till the early hours on a Friday and Saturday. This sends a rather odd vibration around your room as does every car that drives past the hotel.
If you are looking for somewhere clean and to get your head down this hotel may fit the bill. If you are looking to wake up each day and not be depressed by your surroundings consider elsewhere. There are literally hundreds of other options in Jesolo which will serve you better!
Jesolo is a nice resort with everything you need for a good holiday. Please dont be put off the resort by this review it is only a reflection of a very very basic hotel.
