We had no idea what to expect and couldn't have been more delighted with location and
our apartment. Sylvia greeted us and was so helpful with direction, restaurants,
etc. We really felt at home. Sylvia and Luca were very accomodating, friendly and
very down to earth owners. Amazing scenery and a fabulous stay! Stay here if you find yourself in Tuscany! You won't
regret it.

Spacious multi-room "apartments". He had 4 rooms, and plenty of space for 4 people.

On Wednesday night, the owner cooks a home cooked 5 course authentic Italian meal -- fantastic!

There was a nice pool and a soccer field.

The view was fabulous over the Tuscan country side (the farmhouse is up in the hills).

We went to Firenze one day (20 minute train ride). There are restaurants and a grocery store 15-20 minutes away. Greve is close, with shops and restaurants.

Owner was fabulously accomodating, helped with getting around, winearies, trains, etc.

We saw a deer and a well known fox came to dinner!

Toscany is one of the most beautiful places in Europe and you couldn't stay anywhere better as in la Ghiandaia. It breathes Toscany in every inch
An isolated authentic rural house with some of the best views you'll ever see.
The loacation, close to Greve is also ideal for exploring all the treasures of the Tuscan area.
Everything is there to make your holiday as special as it should be but the hospitality of the family makes it rise above other accomodations.
Silvia, Luca, la mamma and babbo, you couldn't dream for warmer, better hosts.

Wen staying in la Ghiandaia, you're part of the family.

If somebody must tell you about La Ghiandaia, it will be my family and me! We where there for my Grand-Fathers birthday. But we falled in love with the place and the staff(Hermete, Silvia, Luca and Teresa), 8 times we where there! Every year again, the same week. It's so beautiful out there. You can't imagine! But now my grand- father died, and we can't go anymore, but so, maybe, we go again in 2010!
I can't wait to be there again!

We are finally able to write about our wonderful stay at La Ghiandaia in June 2008.We planned our trip to Tuscany/ Umbria well in advance and, after serious research chose various types of accomodation; mostly upmarket small ,boutique type hotels to use as bases to tour the countryside. We were rather uncertain about a 'Tuscan farmhouse' but did want to experience something typical so chose La Ghiandaia. This proved to be the highlite of our holiday in Italy and the reason being were the amazing hosts.Luca and Sylvia made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and their sincere warmth and hospitalty is something we'll always remember. The farmhouse is spotless ,has large ,very comfortable accommodation, a beautiful pool area to enjoy the magnificent vistas of the surrounding forests, fields and vineyards .As it is very conveniently situated ,we were able to visit the nearby villages , historical places and restaurants all recommended daily by Sylvia and Luca.On our last evening we decided to relax at the pool and watch the sunset with a bottle of Chianti and some antipasti and cheese bought from a local deli.We will never forget the arrival of Luca with a huge dish of the BEST melenzane parmigiana prepared by Sylvia for us to taste!!!!!It was so sad to say goodbye to this charming couple and of course their beautiful little Luna who we got quite attatched to during our stay.We would definitely recommend La Ghiandaia to anyone to use as a haven to relax while exploring La Bella Toscana.

There are many things to praise at this property,
The location is fantastic if you want to immerse yourself right in the heart of the tuscan counrtyside
The accomodation is beautiful, beautiful furniture, large and spacious with incredible views
The real highlight though was the hosts. Sylvia and Luca were both amazing. Everyday we pestered them for advice on food, trips, towns to visit and they would always give us loads of advice which meant we really got the most out of our trip! They couldn't have done more for us and we would say that they were the nicest hosts we have come across in Italy.
The property is isolated and you will need a car but if your looking to immerse yourself in a rural Tuscan location this is perfect and very good value for money.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2007. We were originally booked to stay here for 5 nights but loved it so much we extended our stay.

Silvia and her boyfriend Luca were charming hosts and very very helpful. We told Silvia we were interested in sampling wines and Silvia recommended some good wineries that were nearby. She also gave great recommendations for nearby osterias and trattorias.

They treated us like family. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

We stayed in the apartment "La Roccia". The view from our bedroom window was stunning. The apartment was huge and very rustic. It was furnished with antiques and felt very welcoming. We loved sitting outside at night at our table looking over the valley with our prosciutto and chianti.

The air is so clean and fresh.

The final drive from the main road to the farmhouse must be taken slowly as it is a dirt road but we managed it every day with a smallish rental car without problems.

If you looking for a real Tuscan experience, staying in a big old farmhouse with views that stretch forever - don't hesitate to book this place. We're already planning our next trip there.
