“Perfect central Tuscan location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2011

What a great choice Antico Pastificio turned out to be. Our group of 2 couples stayed in the large 3 brm Mercantino apartment - 3 private ensuites, kitchen (but who cooks when you are on holiday!) and sitting area - no balcony unfortunately but there was an extensive balcony with chairs/tables downstairs. Garden and grounds in general were immaculately kept - the lawn looked like a cricket pitch! Didn't swim - water was a bit chilly - but the pool was sparkling clean. Plenty of parking for guests' cars out back in a secure parking area.
This is the trick - stay here and radiate out to all the Tuscan sights - Pisa, Lucca, Sienna, San Gimignano etc - during the day and venture back to this quiet haven in the evening. 100m from the town piazza with all you could want - banks, restaurants, delis, bakeries etc, and a larger supermarket 200m away as well. Food in all the local restaurants was great - and the house wine remarkable - never had a bad one in our 4 weeks through northern Italy.
Antico has its own laundry on site with washing machines and dryers.
Would definitely stay there again.

We onkly stayed two nights at the Pasta Factory in Greve In Chianti, but we wished we could have stayed longer. It was probably one of the best and memorable places that we have stayed at during our three week trip in Italy. Fanastic value for money, huge room, swimming pool (it was 38 degrees when we were there), and the Greve old square a minutes walk away. I would highly recommend the Old Pasta Factory as a great place to stay when exploring Toscana.

We found this Hotel very well appointed and close to the main square in Greve but far enough away to be very quiet. The room was very clean and huge, the only complaint was the bathroom was a bit dark and we would have liked a mirror in the room. We found Monica most helpful when we enquired about sightseeing around the Chianti area.

I stayed at Antico for a couple of nights while attending a wedding in nearby town.
The hotel was full of character and in the perfect location..while all wedding guests stranded up the hills!
The town has excellent restaurants & cafes and is exactly what I expected.
The hotel is basic but clean and simple decor however some stunning pieces of antique furniture.
One slight critisism is that the cleaning staff could be a tad quieter in the morning along the halls.

Room Tip: Ask for the 2 bed apartment, its huge & has cooking faciilities

We stayed at the Anitico Pastificio for 7 days over Easter. We had the Burrato aparment, on the ground floor with our own gazebo and outdoor table. While it was lovely in the garden when the weather was warm, being inside was like being in a cave... ,dusty, very cold and quite dark with an extremely uncomfortable and creaky bed. The very thin walls did not make for a romantic, relaxing week... as we could hear our (very nice) neighbours quite distinctly and found ourselves whispering and tip-toeing around so as not to disturb them. There were lots of families staying while we were there and I think the accommodation probably is best suited for family groups... with pool table, tennis table and a playground.
The apartment was well laid out, with a well-equipped kitchen and a mezzanine bedroom. The laundry facility was very handy after 5 weeks of travel and the apartments are close to specialty shops and a co-op supermarket in the town. There is secure parking through automatic gates and a clean and sparkling swimming pool. The gardens are very well kept with tables and sun lounges for when the weather is warm.
We did a fabulous cooking course with Stefania at Pasta Pesto which Monica arranged. At E110 per person it was very good value for money with the charming Stefania in her home at Montefioralle.
We have since discovered that there is other more private accommodations available which would best suit a couple looking for a romantic Tuscan getaway.

Room Tip: garden facing ground floor rooms cold and dark

This vacation property is a really great as a base to explore the region. It is a half-hour away from Florence by car (there is also a bus). The apartments are well-maintained, very spacious. There is a swimming pool and a billiard room. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The property is next to the main square of Greve, which is a small charming town.

The Antico Pastificio is located centre of Greve in Chianti. The Hotel provides self-contained apartments. We stay threr tow nights. Our apartment was big enough for bigger family. If I understand right, it was the only one which was free, we haven’t made reservation before. But the price was still suitable. We have lovely balcony, where we enjoy our breakfast. The grounds are lovely, with it's nice swimming pool. The water was too cold to go for swimming. The owner speaks very good English and was very helpful about things to do, where to go and how to get there.
