“"Our stay at this vineyard was absolutely wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2011

We traveled throughout Italy and our stay at Villa Vignamaggio was the hilight of our trip.... We loved everything about this place... As soon as we arrived, we sat on the patio surrounded by olive trees overlooking the countryside which looked like a beautiful painting (a memory I will never forget). We were served a wonderful Tuscan lunch... We had a suite which was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Our package included breakfast and a tour of the vineyard. We also had the wine tasting dinner which was unbelievable! The food and selection of wines were superb. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. It was the most relaxing and romantic part of our vacation... Highly recommend this place

Can not say enough about how wonderful this place is.. We purchased a package that included breakfast, a wine tour and a cooking class which I would highly recommend... Met many wonderful staff ..amazingly friendly and helpful.. the other guests were interesting and nice, the walking trails , grounds, etc all are spectacularly beautiful... If you can you should go here. you will not regret it..

We loved staying in this beatiful old place, in a central location in Chianti. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are lovely. We particulartly enjoyed our second room in the converted farmhouse.
It is an odd concept, in that it isn't a hotel in terms of service (noone is around and there is no included breakfast), however it is in terms of price. Our room was made up on a daily basis though, and this was really all we needed.
However, you need to be aware that there seem to be a lot of families that stay there too. Hence, our time relaxing by the pool was often disrupted by noisy children. It wasn't their fault, we should have probably researched this first. But its probably worth knowing if you are a couple wanting a quiet break!
All in all its a nice place to stay, but probably a bit over-priced for what you get.

This is one of the most romantic and relaxing settings in Tuscany. You feel like you stepped into a painting or a slice of history. Charming rooms, spacious and tastefully decorated. The grounds are amazing as is the swimming pool. It is centrally located to see so many sights and for wine tasting. Speaking of which - taste the Vignamaggio wines! Highly recommend this place, especially for couples.

Excellent location, the rooms are wonderful and perfectly kept.
You can't beat the views from the villa, the decor and the gardens.
The restaurant and their wines are terrific also.
Will definitely go back

We stayed at Vignamaggio for 3 nights after a fun but hectic tour of Rome and Florence. the location is heaven, with lovely views of Tuscan landscape, amazing gardens and lovely swimming pools.
We had a stone villa which was charming. The rooms were a great size, the bathroom was quite large, and the bedroom was a good size and very comfortable. There was also a small living room/kitchenette, which we never used, because the weather was beautiful and we preferred to sit on the patio.
We found the staff very friendly and helpful. All the common rooms have coffee and sweets in the morning and wine all day. We're not big breakfast eaters, so coffe and a small sweet was enough for us, though I heard their breakfast were great. We ate dinner there one night and the food was very good.
It's a great location, good for just hiking and walking around the counrtyside, or well located for day trips to some of the wonderful walled towns that make Tuscany so much fun to explore. We would defintitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Definitely take the tour of the wine cellars. It's very impressive. Sandro is a very entertain...

Sorry to say. The place is great, the grounds and views still stunning, but got the feeling this trip that Vignamaggio is more concerned about the agri part of agritourismo than the tourists.
Lots of little things like not being about to park next to the villa, gates and locked doors abound, elevator "closed" at night, portions of villa sitting rooms now locked off, Wifi that worked, as long as you moved your chair next the door. Finally, no real heat. When we asked they very politely informed us that no individual heat in rooms, and central heat turned on a few hours at a time when the lows were in the 40s and highs in the 50s.
Staff was as helpful as ever and these complaints are only directed at a management style that has changed over the 10+ years we have been visiting. If we come back next year in Sept, we will stay again. If we come in Oct like now, we will probably go elsewhere as a place of this level of quality should not be worrying about the heating bill (to paraphrase JP Morgan, if you have to worry about the heating bill, you can't afford to own the place).
