“Did Ancient People wear a bikini?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Yes, it is shown in one of the mosaics in the Villa del Casale. Many other mosaics show hunt scenes (even with a Rhinocero) or other human activities. It is very strange that it is unknown who was the owner of the villa but he had to be a very wealthy person. If you want to visit a roman house to feel a little how that rich society lived you can't miss this place.

“Don't miss this!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Beautiful mosaics - If you have any interest in Roman history, you will enjoy this. The villa is laid out in the classic Roman style and much of it is in excellent condition. We were even able to see original Roman pipes running under the buiding. We had an excellent guide who obviously had a passion for his subject.

“Stunning Site, Improved Presentation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

This Roman Emperors home has tile floors unlike any other. We had a fabulous guide set up by Tradizione Turismo who had stories for everything. What a blast.

“Please dont miss it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

It sounds kind of boring to many people, but it is really a fascinating place. Very large and only recently reopened. Unfortunately not well maintained - so much garbage all over the place and the structure has birds roosting and dropping their.. er..."droppings" on these fabulous remnants of a bygone age. But for all that - really a must see in the middle of nowhere. Before or after have lunch at nearby Trattoria La Ruota. Terrific and friendly and spotless kitchen. Get the Melanzane. By the way - as with so many things in Italy - I do not believe that the exhibits are wheelchair accessible.
