“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2008

Mandy's previous review is spot on. Location is great. We had a superior room and for a newly refurbished room it was poor. It was done on the cheap and was very cramped. Any Italian style had been removed which is a shame. Its only redeeming feature was that it had a door that led out onto the roof top which gave you a fantastic view of all of Alberobello.
The owners were very accomodating and friendly which is a plus. We booked direct and only had breakfast which was a pretty poor affair but adequate. We saw the evening meal and were glad we were not eating there. As for the surrounding restaurants - bello - we did not have a bad meal.
Would we stay again - strangely yes - because it was good value and if you want to be within walking distance of everything there really is no other choice. I would however use it just as a base to sleep at and try all the wonderful ristorante surrounding it (avoid the obvious tourist ones). One final tip if you are touring the area and want a base, I would stay in the neighbouring town of Martina Franca which is much bigger has more life and better hotels, then visit Alberobello and the surrounding towns

I couldn't quite work this hotel out. Some aspects were fantastic and others not so good. From their website it is obvious that they used a talanted photographer. However, if you were to eat out in the evening I think that this would be a good bet.

It was typically Italian family run business. The patron greeted us and gave us a welcome drink. The position was excellent. Only 50 metres to the main square (which opened out to have fountains, trees and seats) and one minute's stroll to the viewing platform of the World Heritage Site for truilli Houses. There was parking in the street outside the hotel but don't bring a big car. Although on a side road I didn't find the traffic hoisy. Saturday nights was loud as dancing and music in the square. The town was great, certainly worth staying for a couple of nights. The hotel has just been refurgished - right down to the waste paper bins. Everything brand new and modern but keeping the original features, e.g. vaulted ceiling in the lounge. Absolutely spotelessly clean.

The bedroom was small with only one drawer underneath the wardrobe. When I looked at the room plan all the rooms seemed about the same size. Clean towels every day. Air con. However, the water was not always hot. Apparently the computer has to click in. So my advice is to run the tap, and if it is only luke warm after a couple of minutes, tell Reception.

The food was poor. Stale rolls. In the end I resorted to buying my own and taking them to breakfast. The breakfast reminded me of school trips. Nice coffee. Evening meal was very strange. First course either tasty starter of soup or pasta. Second course was very patchy. One night a dried up pork chop with green beans and tiny potato. One night we got one croquette potato each! Desert was ice cream or fruit. Cheap, tasty wine!

All in all = Very clean and new. Poor food. Good location.

We've just got back from this hotel and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

It is very centrally located so very easy to get around, but not noisy.

The hotel itself is beautiful - very clean and well-appointed with very comfortable beds. The staff were charming and could not do enough to help - a family-run hotel and everyone gets involved. The food was wonderful - I'm vegetarian and they took pains to ensure I was happy with the delicious feast they had prepared each night. The breakfast was basic (as is mentioned in an earlier review) but that is Italy for you. The food was all local and whatever was in season. The chef came out each night to tell us how to cook it!

I really would recommend this to anyone.

I staid at the Lanzillotta a couple of years ago and the Hotel has gone through a transformation since. The whole Hotel has been refurbished to good standard. The rooms are reasonably spacious with the usual small flat screen TV. Our room was to the front of the hotel with a small balcony that had some nice views over some of the towns Trulli’s.

I guess the only thing to be aware of is that the hotel has no assigned parking. There is some street parking outside of the hotel but its limited.

I would agree with the previous review that the breakfast was not special, but at 64 Euro’s a night the Hotel is good value.

I went on a walking holiday that was based at the Lanzillotta Hotel. Check in was swift - even with a load of walkers! My room, a single one was very small, but with a comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom with a good shower. My room was at the front of the hotel with a small balcony which overlooked the road and a small square. What was good was the walking and sightseeing. Plus the added bonus was a fiesta for several days. Beautiful Christmas-type lights were erected and a wonderful bandstand and the band belted out some wonderful music. The main church was decorated as well. It was an atmospheric time and the trulli houses that populate the town are wonderful. The not so good was the food in the hotel - we were on half board. Breakfast was bearable but in one week - veal was on the menu four times! In general the food was not good but the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would go back to Alberobello - I really enjoyed the walking holiday - but would not stay at that hotel. It is centrally located and easy to get to everything and is spotlessly clean but does not have a lot of atmosphere.

We were seven teachers from Czech republic, Latvia and Turkey and were in Alberobello for a European Comenius project meeting for a week. With its friendly atmosphere and fantastic food, Lanzillotta made our stay very relaxable and enjoyable. Thank you to their owners and staff. We would be very pleased to have our next meeting in the same town and of course, at the hotel Lanzillotta.
