“Loved our stay in a unique boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We spend one night at the Alcove as part of our two-week trip to various parts of Southern Italy. One day or two days in Alberobello is probably enough, so this was perfect.

The hotel is absolutely lovely and full of charm. It's very clean, modern and located right next to Casa D'Amore (a historical site) and near the main Piazza. It is close to the Museo de Terra which showcases the history of the Trulli, the Trulli neighbourhood where people still live today, close to the main church and a great restaurant called La Cantina.

If you're expecting to stay in the neighbourhood with the thousand Trulli, this is not it. But that was good with us as we didn't want to be right in the tourist hub. Besides, it's only a 5-minute walk away from the hotel.

We stayed in a gorgeous Trulli hot with a super-comfortable bed and a stunning bathroom. Big claw-foot tub and modern amenities. The room had a very high domed ceiling and it felt so luxurious and cozy at the same time.

The breakfast buffet is very very tasty, They made us fresh coffee and had fresh juice, fruit, eggs, local meats and pastries all ready for us. In a very lovely all-white setting in a private garden. Just lovely.

The staff were fantastic. Told us the highlights to visit, offered great directions and took care of our parking too. We felt very welcome there.

Really made our stay in Alberobello special and memorable.

This was our first trip to Puglia (we've visited most of the rest of Italy). We loved Puglia. The food, the weather, and all the towns we visited.
The first one was Alberobello. If you're the type of tourist who only wants to have checkmarks in your bucket list, visiting this town will take you only a few hours (it's not Florida. It's not Paris).
But if you like to enjoy the views walk around a different town, then staying at Le Alcove, you will be in a room like you never been before.

The trullis have been restored and are immaculate. The breakfast was nice outside. The bed and bathroom comfortable. We stayed in a larger trulli as we we traveled with our daughter (11 years old). She loved it.

If you want a unique experience, visit this place. It is not cheap, though. But it was a nice splurge. Would I stay more than one night ? Not sure. On our trip in Puglia we decided to stay in different towns.

If you want "things to do", go to Disney World.

Spent two nights in the Alberobello Le Alcove resort at the beginning of July. Must say that Alberobello all in all is not very exciting (I would recommed you stay in Monopoli or Polignano and visit Alberobello during the day). The hotel is in the central piazza near normal buildings (I was expecting it to be in one of the "trulli" zones but unfortunately it was not. The receptionists were friendly but the room was not as amazing as I thought it would be when reading the comments. We stayed in a suite, unfortunately there was no shower only bathtub and the bathroom was freezing cold (even though it was 32 degrees outside). The bed was not extremely comfortable and the trullo we were staying in had the entrance right on the main street which made it a bit awkward.
Reading other comments I saw people complaining about the small reception and no real "common areas" which I must agree with, but all in all if you wish to spend a night or two in a typical Alberobello trullo I believe Le Alcove would be the best option.

We stayed two nights at Le Alcove at the end of our 10 days Pugliese trip.

Our objective was to experience a stay in a luxury Trullo, visit some of the nice cities around and of course, have great dinners.

It was the first time we stay in a Trullo, so really we have no point of comparison but I must say, the Trullo creates a very romantic atmosphere. We stayed in the Cantastorie, which was of a good size (not especially big but neither small) and features tasteful furniture and a free standing bath. The Trullo was an impressive and fun experience boosted by his antic stone walls and his very high conic ceiling.

The location of the Alcove was perfect. In the center of the old city of Alberobello, easy to access, very close to the main Trulli (some streets are really magical) and very close to some very nice authentic Pugliese restaurants (important as Le Alcove doesn't serve diner - I personnaly recommend Trattoria Amatulli on Via Garibaldi or La Cantina - you will have a good authentic - not touristic! - experience for a very good price/quality ratio).

Alberobello is a good base to explore the area around (the countryside is beautiful so driving around is quite nice to do) and from a short distance of the White City Ostuni and to the Coast (close to Monopoli, you will find Lido Sabbia D'oro which is a nice sandy beach).

Important to know not to be mistaken, Le Alcove is a very nice boutique hotel which i would recommend for romantic stay. It doesn't have huge communal area nor a swimming pool so if you are looking for that you might want to stay in a bigger resort.

If you're looking for a smaller hotel and more personnalized service, Le Alcove is a right choice - service was at all level very nice, friendly, smiling and eager to help local staff. You will also find a lot of little surprises like a fresh fruit pleateau at your arrival, some local pastries and cakes in the evening and a free (non alcohol) mini bar (which is quite rare nowadays).
The breakfast features local cheese, ham, salami, bread, pastries - classical type of breakfast in the area boosted by a good selection of fresh made fruit juice such as pear, pineapple, peach,...

I do recommend Le Alcove if you're looking for the experience of a romantic stay in a Trullo, it might seems a bit expensive but I think it is definitely worth it - or if you're willing to visit Alberobello and the area.

We spent an enchanting couple of days at Le Alcove, the best b & b we stayed at during our 3 week trip to Southern Italy. Our bedroom (suite) was quite large, rare for a b & b and it was beautifully decorated. It was extremely well-located right off the town square of Alberobello. The service, including an extremely cordial and knowledgeable staff, even surpassed all of the many other pluses; in fact, we continued to have amazing service even after we left. To explain: I forgot my jewelry, left inside an evening bag, in their safe when we left. The management was not only willing to send it to us in Los Angeles, but they worked on getting us the best possible price for this, since the original price quoted was so costly. They returned the purse intact; in addition, they fixed the damage to it that I had incurred during the trip! I don't think there are many lodging that would be willing to go to all this trouble for a guest, since it involved quite a lot of time and quite a few emails back and forth.

This is a very pretty hotel, three years old, in sixteenth century trulli, with friendly staff. We were offered a very nice fruit plate on arrival which was very refreshing after a long journey.
Buffet breakfast was OK, but the breakfast room is very small - there was a couple at the only table for four, so to accomodate our party of four there was much heaving of heavy tables. The breakfast room doubles as bar and is marred by a very distorted sound system playing pop music at the same time as the TV is showing local channels.
The bathroom was a little difficult to use, we could not get the monsoon shower to work, and there was no shelf in the shower to put shower gel when showering. If you absolutely must stay in the trulli, this is fine, but it’s expensive for what you get. Their restaurant recommendation was not very good, and they did not ask us afterwards whether we had enjoyed our meal.

My husband and I had two wonderful nights at Le Alcove ..a great place to recover from our jet lag!
Katia and Fabiana were incredibly knowledgable about restaurants to recommend as well as easy drives to the caves ( one rainy morning) and interesting Medieval towns to visit on the coast...right down to where to get the best ice cream! Highly recommend if it's within your budget!

Room Tip: We had a suite which walked straight out to alley - nice and private with a huge tub to soak after a...
