“What a wonderful gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013 via mobile

We stayed three nights in October, the tail-end of the season, having travelled for three weeks from Genoa. We wanted to end our holiday with a relaxing few days before heading home. We could not have chosen a better place. The hosts, Guiseppe and Andrea, were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the view stunning and the atmosphere peaceful and calming. If we get the chance to return to Ischia again, we would stay no where else but Casa Gerardo.

Pitty there's only a range of points from 1-5. In our point of view Casa Gerardo should get let's say a fair 20! Difficult to write what hasn't already been written. Views astonishing, room tidy and spacious with a lovely million pound terrace view but the charm of the whole place is completely in the hands of the two brothers Giuseppe and Raffaele! The first one is in fact a brilliant chef and the other a wine connoisseur able to give useful advice on local wines. Both Giuseppe and Raffaele and Andrea of course are great companions and it's been a real pleasure to meet them. We'd very much like to point out wonderful breakfasts with home-made marmelades at the main terrace. Giuseppe, thanks for the wonderful dinner. Raffaele, thanks for introducing the wines of Antonio Mazzella to us. Be sure that from now on Casa Gerardo is the place we will stay at every time we are back in Ischia

We loved Casa Gerardo, one of the greatest places we've ever stayed; the view out to the unspoilt bay, the fantastic hosting and pretty gardens combine to create a lovely place to stay.

Giuseppe, Raphaele and Andrea provide are wonderfully warm and friendly that really made us feel welcome - they genuinely want you to enjoy yourself and nothing is ever to much trouble.

Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the bay and includes home made cake, marmalade and fresh fruit - figs, peaches and grapes - from their garden. Friday night saw a four course meal prepared for the guests with local wines and fresh seafood (my vegetarian alternative also delicious). Food is as good as any restaurant we ate at on the island and a fantastic atmosphere.

The location is excellent - two minutes from the local beach complete with restaurant and sun loungers, five minutes from the bus stop and the "Bomba Man" with freshly squeezed orange juice and a 10 minute walk from Sant Angelo.

Amazing value too. We can't wait to go back and would recommend it to anyone.

Casa Gerardo ... a magical place full of joy and harmony thrills you from the beginning by the beauty and cleanliness.
We spent an unforgettable vacation, enjoying the sun and hospitality increasingly rare. Welfare makes you feel at home. We loved to drink our coffee on the terrace listening to the sea and watch it movements (the sea is very close) and enjoying the views that takes your breath away.
The home made cake and the breakfast makes your day sweeter since the early hours. With open heart and with great pleasure I would go back...I felt what it means Italy, sea, relaxation and enjoyment....without paying a high price

I have been travelling to Ischia twice last Summer, and after staying at a big hotel, I decided to spend a romantic short holiday at this B&B. It is true that no matter how good a place can be, if it is not run well, it would lose all its charm. Giuseppe and Raffaele the most amazing hosts! They are friendly, helpful, warm people, and they make you feel like at home. We will never forget the amazing breakfast, with daily home-made cakes baked by the super efficient Andrea, and the weekly home-cooked dinner, specifically prepared for the guests.Talking about the rooms, they are basic but nice and clean. Remember to ask for an air-con room, as not all of them are fitted with air-con. You might not get the great sea view from the room ( as the air-con rooms are all on the ground floor), but you will share a nice patio. And to get the view, just go up to the terrace, sit-down and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Sant'Angelo is a lovely Greek-style little village, and you can get there in 10 minutes' walk from Casa Gerardo. Ask Giuseppe for recommendation on where to eat without spending too much money. If you wish to discover Ischia, you can take a bus (the bus terminal is just at the B&B's doorsteps) and discover Ischia. For the closest seaside/beach, walk down the steep steps, just outside the B&B and you will find a small beach with a beautiful sea, with umbrellas to rent, if you wish. By this beach, there is also a small bar / restaurant, where you can eat very good seafood, catch of the day, during lunch or dinner. Or take a longer walk and get to the bigger beach. We loved Casa Gerardo, and we do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. As I said, the place is great, but it is those who run it that make it a very special one!

Room Tip: Request specifically an A/C room, if you wish to stay cooler!

There are many hotels to choose from when travelling to a place like Ischia, and unfortunately not everyone has an insider to tip them off to off-the-beaten path paradise spots like Casa Gerardo. A girlfriend of mine from Naples told me about this place, and she couldn't have been more right.
From the main road, you follow a little white-washed stairwell, bringing you down to a breathtaking garden and terrace where there are all types of plants and colorful flowers, as well as a hammock, sunchairs, tables and umbrellas, where you can enjoy an amazing view of the sea and Sant'Angelo. Even though we arrived on a day that brought us both sun and rain, it was literally stunning. Our mouths had dropped open and we hadn't even entered the establishment yet!
As we went in, we were warmly greeted by Giuseppe and offered a delicious hot coffee and a slice of their famous "Pastiera"-a mouthwatering homemade dessert made with ricotta. After our welcoming treat, Giuseppe answered any and all questions we had (as we were first-timers to the island of Ischia), from how to rent a scooter to where we could have an "off-the-beaten-path" lunch of fresh fish, caught by the owner-who happens to be a fisherman-that very morning!
Thanks to Giuseppe's advise about how to spend our time in Ischia, we had the most unforgettable weekend ever, and are already planning to go back...to Casa Gerardo, that is!
This is really a place for all of those foreigners who want to get a real look at Ischia, not a turistic one. As you can probably see from the majority of the reviews, they are in Italian. As an American living in Italy for the last 10 years, here's a tip for all of you off-the-beaten path travelers who like to fit in where you go and experience places without feeling like a tourist: go where the locals go!
That's just what we did, and it was worth it. With rooms overlooking the water and their lovely garden, this is also an extremely romantic spot, as well...so romantic, that I even inquired if it would be possible to hold weddings there, and of course, the hospitable Giuseppe, shrugged his shoulders and said, "sure, why not..if it is an intimate one!"
Just as the title states, this is truly how to experience off-the-beaten-path romance and paradise in Ischia...
