The taxi brought us up the windy steep hill to poggio aragosta, already I knew my "strolls" in the evening wouldnt be very enjoyable! Check in starts at 1pm, we arrived at 2.30 but had to wait 30 minutes for our room to be ready but no problem as we enjoyed a drink on the terrace. Reception speaks very little English, apart from one girl, in fact the whole hotel is geared towards German and Italian visitors, to the extent that te information booklet in the rooms do not come in English which was annoying. It led us to not realise one could only swim in their pools with swimming caps on and had to be told once submerged! Rooms were nice, we had a beautiful view and terrace. The pool bar, advertised as open until 230 and again from 430 is not there at all, lunch is available from 1 until 2 which is disappointing given how far away we were from the town or other restaurants. The complimentary shuttle is great but stops at 19.10 so not good for returning at night and the taxis really rip you off. Breakfast is ok, on both mornings all other diners were offered
Menus when we just had the buffet, as the menus aren't available in english anyway it didn't matter but we really felt overlooked. Service and staff are friendly and helpful but on the whole it's too far away, too geared towards other nationalities and the services outlined are not evident at all. We also felt it was for an older age group. We are in our late 20s and were by far the youngest.
