“Utterly wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

Just returned from a blissful week at the lovely Marina 10 and I'm already desperate to go back!

We booked a week long girly getaway on the basis of the other Tripadvisor reviews and I'm pleased to report that we made completely the right decision. From the moment we arrived, Valentina and Federica were fabulous hosts - so friendly, so welcoming and so keen to make our stay memorable.

Our room, 103, was spacious and airy with excellent airconditioning (important in the Ischian heat!) and a modern, immaculately clean bathroom. Plus we had a walk-in wardrobe, which as women we were very grateful for. Only niggle was that the door rattled when other people slammed their doors but during our stay, a handyman popped round to fiddle with the door and this seemed to improve matters. A very minor quibble though & the staff were obviously already trying to fix it prior to our arrival.

The pool area was secluded & quiet with super comfy sunloungers - luckily we had it to ourselves for most of our stay! We were very impressed with the lovely gardens too and enjoyed strolling through them at night with the twinkly lights, the trickle of the fountain and the soft jazz (which is piped through the gardens all day and evening).

Breakfast was varied and plentiful with beautiful handmade Italian coffees made especially for us every morning. The breakfast area was then transformed into a pretty cafe area post-11am, where we enjoyed several glasses of Prosecco and Aperol Spritzes in the evenings while overlooking the gorgeous gardens.

While there, we treated ourselves to a massage for about 30E each (from a muscly young Italian guy - hooray!) which took place in the private spa area, which has a Turkish Bath, Jacuzzi and rainfall shower. With low-lighting, lots of candles, atmospheric music and a pretty treatment area sheathed with gauzy curtains, it was the perfect way to round off our trip.

The staff couldn't do enough to help during our stay and kindly helped organise a bottle of Prosecco and a fresh fruit platter in the room for my friend's birthday. Not only that but, totally unprompted, on my friend's birthday they brought out a beautiful birthday cake at breakfast time which she was especially touched by.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Marina 10 - this hotel really is a hidden gem!

“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here in September 2012. We had a fantastic stay. The hotel was beautiful and perfectly clean. The rooms were spacious and again very clean. The spa was reasonably priced €30 for a back neck and shoulder massage. The spa was small and simple but perfectly lovely. The area was great. Recommend the restaurant over the road, called calise, great food and very reasonably priced. The hotel breakfast was nice, plenty of choice and lovely pastries. Staff were fantastic and very helpful. Couldn't fault the staff who couldn't do enough to help. They spoke good English and were happy to recommend places. Free wifi in reception and the breakfast room which was a great help. Can't recommend this place highly
Enough!! Great value for money

“Lovely hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

My hubbie and I stayed here for a week in September. We were a bit shell shocked when we got off the ferry in Casamicciola as it seemed to be just a small strip with a very busy main road and a few cafes and restaurants. I was really worried about the week ahead until we got into the hotel. The hotel is an absolute haven from the noisy road outside. It's a little bit off the road and when you enter you get a lovely sense of calm and tranquility. The design of the hotel is quite unique and it's really well planted with most rooms looking over into the garden. The rooms are a little small but sufficient and the staff are great, exceptionally friendly and professional. I also like the way they play jazz music throughout the hotel during the day, very soothing. It's a great little hotel for the price and as its close to the main road it's a great location for buses and taxis to all the other places on the island.

“More boo-tique than boutique”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

We stayed here for a week and based on other reviews were very much looking forward to it.

First, the location is great. Right in Casamiaccola centre, just a few doors down from the ice cream parlour.

We had booked ages in advance, and requested a ground floor room on other's suggestions here. I think we got the worst deal. Our room was tiny and crammed in a corner. We peeked into other rooms when they were being cleaned and they were much bigger than ours. Still, it was pleasant enough and very clean throughout, although as others have said, the shower leaked and beds are quite hard.

What wasn't so good?

Breakfasts were mediocre at best. Bread wasn't always fresh, no toaster, no make your own coffee facilities, which kind of limited us to one each in the morning (we'd prefer a couple). Some of the food made repeat appearances over a few days.

The pool has no shade. And it turns your bathers a rather attractive shade of yellow. (This wasn't just here - we had the same experience at other places, so it must be an Ischian thing, but don't take a white bikini).

The corridors were really noisy and they begin playing music in the courtyard just after 8, so don't expect a lie in. And it was the same music every day. Kinda sent us nuts after a few days.

No remote for the aircon. So every time it got hot at night, someone had to get out of bed to switch it on (or turn it off).

The spa is a joke. Hubby tried to book me a massage for my birthday, but was told the therapist wouldn't come that day as he was tired. (No wonder the economy is so bad there!). We did get a free 30 minute use of the jaccuzi and steam room. Except the jacuzzi was freezing - (the pool was warmer), and the spa itself is dark and dingy and frankly - smelt of sewerage - we left after 10 minutes.

Service was remote and offhand, rather than warm and friendly.

Given it's a 4 star, I'm baffled as to why. Especially when we moved to another 4 star boutique hotel in Naples and experienced the real deal in all it's glory. It's certainly not the worst in Ischia, but it's not what we hoped for and we wouldn't go back. Credit to the cleaner though, the place was spotless.

For my birthday trip, I was hoping for a real treat. Ischia is full of them, but this place wasn't it.

“Location is everything! Lovely boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

I have just returned from a 4 night stay in this lovely hotel. My boyfriend and I booked last minute and we were not disappointed. Actually getting to the hotel was very easy. We flew to Naples, caught the Alibus to the Port (about 3euros), jumped on a ferry which was waiting just opposite the bus stop at the port. This took about an hour and cost 16euro. We got off at Ischia and caught another bus to Marina Piazza, Casamicciola. The hotel was a 1 min walk from the bus stop. We found out on our departure that you can catch the Ferry from Casamicciola back to Naples - we will know for next time!

We received a lovely warm welcome from Frederica and all the staff at the hotel. The room was quite small but had a lovely private balcony and overlooked the garden. Breakfast was included and was a perfect start to the day. Croissants, eggs, cereal, salami, bruschetta, yoghurts, fruit etc

The location is absolutely perfect for exploring. Bus stop and ferry stop across the road from the hotel. The island is quite small so it is easy to go from one village to another.

Only observation about the hotel was that the doors do bang and the shower room does leak. Very minor points which I am sure the hotel can fix.

The room was very clean and fresh towels everyday. First floor rooms were lovely with the private balcony. The beds were firm and linen changed regularly too.

I would recommend the thermal spa and also make sure you try out the food in the port at Ischia!
