“An exceptional holiday in a wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

This is our third year of holidaying at the Hotel Paradiso Terme and yet again we had a wonderful holiday.

The hotel is exceptional. Clean, friendly, relaxing and in a great location on Ischia.

There are different options when it comes to the accommodation with rooms in the main hotel complex or you can opt for a more secluded room in the Paradiso Garden.

I am sure we will be back again next year so a big thank you to the Romano family and their welcoming staff.

we looked for a hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities and not in the town centre as we were travelling with small children. from past reviews I imagined that the hotel would be full of character with excellent service and renovated rooms. the hotel surroundings were really nice (the dependance rooms are located away from the restaurant and main building in a separate area, you have to walk down a small street to get there) although the gardens are not as big as you would imagine from the photos. We travelled with another family and had one special and one superior room, the price of the special room (the photo of the room on the website is that of a superior) was EUR 25 less but it was two times smaller (on two floors with the balcony on the 2nd floor and the room on the 1st floor was more of a hallway) and seemed kind of dark, packed (you had to move the TV to open the closet) and little warn. the furniture was new but the interior really had no character. we had a really large balcony with two plastic sun loungers, but no chairs or table or shade (the latter we got 1,5 days after requesting it) so it did not seem a real advantage. But as each room has a separate entrance and there is a playground next to the building and there is a separate pool (shared by about 20 rooms) with thermal water (not at all full of chlorine) with water temperature around 35, it was excellent for children. Breakfast was ok but nothing more and identical each morning. I was most disappointed with service, however (if you don't speak italian or aren't a retiree using all extra serices, you already start off at a different level). Service wasn't at all proactive. As my child got very high temperature, we needed to get to a pediatrician which they were unable to arrange or find contacts for, they also declined the request to offer shuttle to the hospital so we took a taxi to another town. Later on they did not even ask how it went. Housekeeping also could have done a more thorugh job (floors were quite dusty). All in all I would have been happy with the selection if the room would have cost EUR 80, but it cost over EUR 140.

We had really beautiful time in Hotel Paradiso Terme. It was a birthday present from my boyfriend - 8 days stay in this hotel, but in the end we kept posponing departure and stayed 10 days in total. We changed a room at the beginning of our stay, as we originally booked with terasse, which was nice but didnt have so much of a view over the sea. We prefered a junior room without a terasse but with splendid views of the sea, sunset, hotel termal pools etc... You really dont need a terasse as there is a lot of beautiful spots to sit around the hotel and relax. The hotel stuff was really helpful. On the flight to Naples airline lost my luggage with all my stuff, which was not a very pleasant start of holidays. It was really nice when the man in reception sent us to the beach to relax and he tracked my suitcase in the meantime. It arrived on next evening on my birthday. Every query we had was immediatelly and kindly answered. We got a package for therapies and treatments, all of them very good quality. The stuff in thermal spa was very friendly, kind and nice. Special thanks to Rita for awsome massages! We decided to get halfboard with our stay and we were impressed with all the meals we ate. Rich breakfast and huge dinner when we could choose from the menu of 3 primi piatti, 3 main courses and 3 deserts and before they started to serve us we could make ourselves a nice starter from large chef's fantasy buffet. Every evening we thought we were going to explode. The food was so good that it was really hard to say no to anything. Wide choice of great Ischitan wines didnt make it any easier for us ;-))Waiters were very polite, helpful and funny. They were very professional but as we like to laugh a lot we had great fun of making jokes with them during our meals. One night there was a big dinner party, which was spectacular. The chef's creations made out of various kinds or fruits were breathtaking. In one word everything was perfect. The hotel is called Paradiso and the name doesnt lie. It is truly a Paradise. One might say that it is quite far from the centre of Forio, but that is only another beauty of it. You get such a great peaceful escape in this place, and if you feel like going to the centre of the town, hotel provides free shuttle, and again the driver is really friendly and helpful. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful, so much nicer than some of the other hotels that we saw closer to the centre. During our stay we met couple of people who tried a lot of other places around the island of Ischia, but once they tried Paradiso, they never go anywhere else. And we neither ;-)

A beautiful place: very friendly and helpful staff, good rooms, free shuttle bus to all important places, really good meals at the restaurant. Really no negative moments at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - it is surely worth its price and really made our trip a pleasant experience!
Next time we come to Italy - we stay at Paradiso Terme.

Stayed here with my girlfriend in mid September 2008. Don’t like to return to holiday destinations as there is so much to see out there. However I think this Hotel/complex is the one to break that rule.
Absolutely loved it!!
The staff were excellent (special thanks to Alexandra and Britt) they couldn’t do enough for you.

Originally in a room within the Gardens, with great views but we asked to be moved to the main hotel as the ceiling fan was slightly louder than the jet engine on our plane. (Exaggeration, I’m a very light sleeper – it didn’t trouble my girlfriend)
Again the staff found us a perfect room in the main hotel.

Checked my credit card statement and discovered that my girlfriend had a massage and facial at the resort?! :( Anyway she said they were competent and worth the price.

Loved the breakfasts - more choice than in most hotels. Waiting staff would assist with any requests at meal times. Had two evening meals. One good - one not so good.

We tended to eat at a place in Forio with a courtyard setting and excellent take-out service.

But back to the hotel. We hit it at just the right time for us as it was the quieter end of the season and so relaxing.
Just wandering from your room to the excellent pools in your complimentary fluffy white robes. The setting was original and authentic with breathtaking views, full of nooks and crannies.

We hired a car from Rome airport (car was very useful but might be a nightmare at peak times) as we wanted to return for a couple of nights in the Capital. However we loved Paradiso so much that we cancelled a night in Rome to stay here longer – can’t say more than that.

Email me if you want any information on this wonderful place.

we spent 3 days in this hotel and loved every minute of it. the setting is beautiful and the staff are great, very friendly and helpfull. the food is good and while the room could have bee a little bigger it is hard to fault this hotel. while it may be a little out of town the shuttle bus service makes up for this.

Got back from here last week. Have to say that it was a wonderful hotel which both my girlfriend and I enjoyed greatly.
We stayed in the paradiso gardens part (a seperate part of the hotel) which had 18 rooms or so with a pool in the middle. The pool was excellent and never really that busy considering we were there at the busiest time of the year.
We had a special dependance room which was spacious with everything you could require to be honest. It was very clean and looked like it had been refurbished recently with no marks whatsoever on the walls.
Ischia (the island) is wonderful and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to go away somewhere that is not touristy in the slightest. At times i truly believed we were the only english speaking people on the island and the Italian phrases I had learnt in a few days prior to going were just enough to get us through. Obviously when people saw us struggling, they jumped in with english and it made life alot easier. Several restaurant hosts spoke perfect english which was very welcoming.
Some hotel staff may have not spoken english but the reception staff all spoke perfect english and were extremely helpful.
The breakfast (we went bed and breakfast) was good in my opinion with a large amount of choice. Lunch and dinner we had outside the hotel so I can't comment on this.
The bus service that goes around the island is very useful with stops just outside the hotel entrance (well the turn off onto the hotel's winding road). Our recommendations for restaurants are Zi Carmela in Forio, La Baia el clipper i think was its name in Ischia porto and the other one we loved (had an english speaking host who was very welcoming) was called Ristorante da Ciccio or something to the effect which was at Ischia ponte.
Italians seemed to make up most of the people in the hotel which is a good sign if the 'locals' stay there.
The reason I have not given the hotel a 5 is because of the amount of travelling required to get there (from Naples airport - a bus, a hydrofoil/ferry and then a bus to the hotel.) I would seriously recommend getting the ferry from Naples to Forio as it saves quite a long bus trip and even getting a taxi from there as our first journey to the hotel was quite stressful on the bus from Ischia to the hotel due to having our cases with us.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone trying to get away and to relax, however would not recommend it to anyone who wants to see historical sights such as Pompeii as the travelling to get there was horrendous to say the least!
Overall, a wonderful hotel on a gorgeous little island......I can't wait to go back.

  • Liked — The room, the pool, how useful the reception staff was
  • Disliked — The amount of traveling to get there, but worth it once it was done!
