Charming old world rabbit warren of a hotel, with good rooms and excellent staff. We were underwhelmed by the food which seemed rather unimaginative and more reminiscent of school dinners than fine dining. The gardens are lovely, as are the views, but the pool is too often inaccessible due to weddings. The little hilltop town is well worth wandering round, with a marvellous communal stone washing trough next to the simple ancient village church. Nestling under the village is an amazing Benedictine monastery. !000 years old, though given an extravagant (?tasteless) baroque makeover in the late 18th C. The pulpit is original and a quite amazing piece of mosaic covered stone and marble.
