“The best kept secret on the Amalfi Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

We have been staying here for the last 8 years. The hotel is so beautiful, the service so good, and the food devine - to say nothing of the wine. It's position high up gives wonderful views across to Ravello, and down to the sea. Scala is a real old "forgotten" town with a real history and a sense of community. Enzo and his family go out of their way to ensure you enjoy the stay. Never have I wanted to return anywhere so much.

A family run hotel, where you simply just want to stay forever....especially if you are looking for a charming atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, breathtaking landscape just outside your door...and friendly and helpful staff.
Also this area is a paradise for walks.
I stayed there in October where the peak of tourist is over...so the atmosphere is relaxed and the locals focus on wine and chestnut harvesting.
The days in this time of year are warm and sunny but bring with you a warm sweater for the evenings.

This is the most fabulous way to base yourself in Amalfi. Atop a mountain retreat and nestled in a cosy and charming family run hotel...what better way to see this truly incredible part of the world!
Clean and comfortable - food incredible, and cocktails to die for. A hidden gem!

This hotel has one of the most breathtaking views on the coast. The hotel location is in an excellent spot. Very easy to explore the surrounding towns and squares with excellent transport links within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is run by a traditional Italian family, who have been doing this for years.. And they went to every lengths to make mine and my friends stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible. The food is sensational, always fresh, with local produce. We had the best barman on the coast, who even makes his own wine. Please ask Lorenzo to make you a fabulous Bellini.. I would definitely recommend the special evenings on the terrace with live traditional music and bbq..very fun and great value. We can't wait to go back. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We will certainly return here. The hotel is situted in incredible settings and the views across the valley to Ravello are just breathtaking. We have never stayed somewhere like this, it just took our breath away.

Not only was the setting amazing, but the Family that run the hotel were so kind and helpful. They bent over backwards to help us with lost bags, late arrivals, finding good places to eat and even parking tickets. I would like to say a big thank you to Lorenzo and Enzo, we promise next time we come to stay we will be less trouble ;)

The room was clean and comfortable, it featured a large balcony that offered great views of the surrounding mountains.

I could go on for a long time but the bottom line is that the hotel, setting and people that run it are top rate. If you want 5 Star opulant luxury then maybe this isnt the place for you, but if youwant to stay in a hotel that is in a stuning location where the staff bend over backwards to help and accomdate you then I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a week at Villa Guiseppina. Superb views of Ravello from balcony/pool/breakfast terrace. Very quiet location but not far from several small towns. Fantastic walks around area are definately worthwhile. The family owners were very friendly and made you feel very welcome. This is really a good B&B with evening meal available at local village restaurant at very competitive price! Only complaint would be very noisy plumbing - we could hear neighbours using bathroom and at 7.00am plates clanking in preparation for breakfast on floor above. Despite the hotel having a bar, it was not well used so lacked atmosphere. If you are thinking of booking at this hotel, you might as well book direct as we had no contact whatsoever from Citalia (Thomson) rep so were very much left to our own devices. We had, fortunately, booked for classical concert in garden of Villa Rufolo, Ravello which was a wonderful experience. Although driving in this area is not easy, would recommend hire of a small car as location is quite remote. However, the bus service is good if you are not planning to go too far.

Good food and their own excellent house wine. Dad, Mum, son and all the staff were so welcoming. We got to see & taste lorenzo's small personal Wine cellar, see and taste chef making his pasta and breakfast on your own terrace is a fantastic treat. Scala is close to all thats good in the Amalfi coast without the crowds. We had a holiday to remember
