I've read about this hotel on a travel website and I've set quite high expectations after reading about the wonderful location and hotel interior and seeing the 360 presentations on the hotel website (quite helpful to get an idea of the place).
It's located in a very picturesque neighborhood, very pleasant for a stroll to the sea front, I could smell the spring in the air all around. The interior is dramatic and tastefully integrated with the old castle building. I felt as if inside a living museum where i could freely explore the beautiful interiors, sit on the comfy chairs, touch the artwork, feel the stone walls, etc. And yet, although imposing, the whole place felt quite warm and intimate (the modern fireplaces set in different locations helped inspire this feeling).
This part of the hotel is definitely the most impressive and much more worth than the conformist, uninspired luxury of some similary rated hotels anywhere else.
The rooms were spacious, quiet, clean and comfy, especially the bed which had this nice ergonomic mattress that guaranteed us an invigorating sleep after a whole day's walk in town.
I don't understand though why high rated hotels (this included) charge for wifi/internet or tv while you can get it for free in some really cheap hostels. That should be included in the price i guess.
The consierge was very nice and helpful, even showed us the 'executive meeting room' in the tower. We were hoping for a view from the top but it was closed for now. Would be a great spot for a summer terace.
The breakfast was delicious with quite a broad choice of high quality products, make sure it's included in the price because it's still not worh 23 euros as written on their menu cards. It was a really enjoyable way to start the day.
I found it a bit funny that in the review card found in the room, they were asking how many times the personnel had used my name. I don't really care too much about this and i find it ridiculous for someone to memorise all the guests' names.
Also there should be some public transport directions (with some helping map) on the hotel website since not all the guests have car/wish to spend money on taxis.
I do reccomend to check their site for room rates before booking, you might find some special offer that's not elsewhere (we had the st patrick's special weekend for 100E/night)
Also don't be put off by the distance to the center unless you wish to party all night/stay central, the 130 bus comes straight from the center and takes 15-20mins and the route is quite nice.
There's always room for some improvements but i think the hotel is really something special and well worth the praise.
