This was our first visit to Greece and Naxos and Hotel Galini is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never seen a hotel owner take as much time with his guests as George and his family did. The minute I walked in I felt immediately at home. The breakfast is also the best I have ever had and I looked forward to it every day. One night George even let my wife and her friend help make the cake that was used for breakfast the next morning so they could learn the recipe. George makes all of the breakfast items from scratch and it was wonderful. My favorite was the spinach pie. The hotel is very close to St. George beach but there are others in the area that you will want to visit as well. The town center with restaurants and shopping is a 10 minute walk and George can recommend the good places to eat. The rooms were perfect, white with blue shutters and a small balcony with a table and a couple of chairs. There is plenty to do on Naxos aside from the immediate area as the island is quite large. We went horseback riding and rented a car to visit the villages inland. The owner of the stables said it best. She said that "Naxos is a special island but it takes a little bit of extra effort to get there". There are also places on the beach that rent wave runners, paddleboards, paddleboats, and you can take wind surfing lessons. In the next town there is a dive shop/school. Our biggest mistake was only staying 7 days. We should have stayed longer but we will fix that on the next trip. We are definitely going back to Naxos and will be staying here again.
