“Special Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

This was our first visit to Greece and Naxos and Hotel Galini is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never seen a hotel owner take as much time with his guests as George and his family did. The minute I walked in I felt immediately at home. The breakfast is also the best I have ever had and I looked forward to it every day. One night George even let my wife and her friend help make the cake that was used for breakfast the next morning so they could learn the recipe. George makes all of the breakfast items from scratch and it was wonderful. My favorite was the spinach pie. The hotel is very close to St. George beach but there are others in the area that you will want to visit as well. The town center with restaurants and shopping is a 10 minute walk and George can recommend the good places to eat. The rooms were perfect, white with blue shutters and a small balcony with a table and a couple of chairs. There is plenty to do on Naxos aside from the immediate area as the island is quite large. We went horseback riding and rented a car to visit the villages inland. The owner of the stables said it best. She said that "Naxos is a special island but it takes a little bit of extra effort to get there". There are also places on the beach that rent wave runners, paddleboards, paddleboats, and you can take wind surfing lessons. In the next town there is a dive shop/school. Our biggest mistake was only staying 7 days. We should have stayed longer but we will fix that on the next trip. We are definitely going back to Naxos and will be staying here again.

For our first visit to Naxos we chose this hotel based on reviews on this site. The hotel lived up to expectations. The room was very clean with fridge and good air con. We enjoyed the breakfast, particularly George's jams! The location is excellent - very close to St George;s beach and easy walking distance to the town. There are supermarkets nearby. The family were very helpful recommending restaurants and places to visit. A small problem with the tap in our bathroom was fixed promptly. We look forward to returning in the future

As we have reviewed this hotel previously there is not a lot to add. The location is just a short walk to the beach and to town, and next to a small church, which sees weddings and baptisms on some Sundays. We were privileged to see two of each in our 21 days! Great experience. Hospitality is second to none and having been here for the fourth time, we enjoy it even more. George, Manolis and his family are great with their helpful advice and information regarding everything local. The breakfast is even better with an enlarged selection daily, including different omelettes, spinach/cheese pies, sweet pastries, even porridge!! A must is the yogurt with George's home-made jams - each of the grape and the quince are to die for!! We consider this to be the best breakfast in Greece and the hottest pot(s) of tea ever!! If you are a grecophile, like us, you will probably fall in love with George and his family too. Someone once said that "when you have seen one Greek island you have seen them all". However, we beg to differ as every island and hotel we have visited has it own special place in our heart, but this one tops the list !! We now call Hotel Sofia&Galini our "second home" and we have already booked next year!

Room Tip: Rooms have sea views and all decorated in classic Greek colours, and very quiet. Sunniest rooms on t...

This hotel is one minute to the beach and 5 minutes to town. This was an excellent beach for being so close. The owners were always very helpful and gave me great information and tips. The breakfast each morning was outstanding, not bacon and eggs but everything else, european style. Cheese or spinach pies. Wonderful Greek yogurt with at least 6 different homemade fruit compotes or honey. Cheeses and meat, bread and baked goods, cereals and egg frittata. Plenty to choose from.
Simple room but it had comfortable mattress and the towels and linen were very white and crisp. Great seating area around the hotel for breakfast
If arriving by boat, you come out of the docking area and head to the main street parallel to the water, turn right and keep walking right through the town, ask someone at this point since you will be only five minutes away. It will take about 15 minutes because of luggage, otherwise it is about 7 minutes.

This family operated hotel is at the south end of Naxos town. We found it quite easy to walk to the hotel after arriving on the ferry, by turning right at the end of the ferry dock, and walking for about 15 minutes along the ocean front, just past the town hall. The rooms were simple, but nicely equipped. We had a veranda with ocean view. Breakfast was especially nice, since George the owner, prepared home baked treats such as cheese tarts, a delicate flan, in addition to bread, ham, cheese etc. George is a master of making preserves, and we had a choice of about 10 to accompany the Greek yoghurt. We received good advice on local restaurants, all of which provided seafood or traditional dishes at reasonable prices.
Naxos offers all kinds of options, including hiking in the interior, or trips by rental car or the local bus to beaches to the south of Naxos town. We walked easily to the bus depot from the Hotel Galini. Naxos in general provides better value than the better known islands, and the Hotel Galini is no exception. We booked directly with the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side have views over Naxos Town. Our room on the west (Ocean Side) had views towa...

George and Manolis run a wonderful, very clean, small hotel next door to the small St. George Church and also right next to St. George Beach. George serves the best breakfast I have ever had--delicious Greek yogurt, homemade jams, all kinds of omelets, cheese and ham pies, spinach pies, cream pies, fresh bread with ham and cheese and various meats, cakes, cookies. He is always coming up with something new and different and DELICIOUS! They treat you like family and will do anything possible to give you a wonderful Greek holiday.

The owners treated us just like a part of the family. The hotel is lovely, quiet and perfectly clean, all in a white and blue style, and a stone's throw of the town's nice beach of St George. The city center with the sea walk lots of restaurants is just a few minutes walk away. Breakfast there is gorgeous. We were there with kids and with my old mother and everyone loved our stay there. All this to a very affordable price.
