Ikaos Studio is a charming little hotel about 4 blocks from Chora Naxos beach, and the same distance to downtown, being this a very quite place to sleep. The price is incredible. There's a pool, and a small kitchen in the room. The owners attend it and they are very nice people. They are eager to give you good avdice to go around the island.

You must rent a motorcycle and ride around the island. It'll take you about 5 hours to cover most of the perimeter. Being a very traditional island, and having small towns with a few villagers, you'll get mobile phone signal everywhere. All you have to do is turn it off. The sea is beautiful. You can also go sailing, biking, hiking, horse riding, and of course, scuba diving. I recomend you take a 5-day vacation to enyoy the whole island.

when we arrived at ikaros studios we were dropped off by the coach and had to climb over a small bush and down a dirt track to get to the apartment. The apartments were really nice and well maintained. The first morning at 7am we were woke up by the building work that was right outside the apartment door. When i stepped out of the apartment at 11am i found i was stood in wet concrete what a good start to my holiday. I took a photograph of this and the hotel manager saw me and went crazy saying i had done it on purpose. they were only cheap shoes so i wasn't going to claim back for them. i wanted the photos to show the rep. He said if i didn't take the pictures off my camera he was throwing me out of the apartment. after he had calmed down we called a truce and he was fine after that. The first night we went out we walked up the mud path and at the end of that was about 4 big bins full of old meat with rats running round and about 6 what i think were suppose to be allotments that looked like dumping grounds it was discusting. But we enjoyed the town it was lovely. Lots of little shops and bars down near the port. The swimming is nice for about an hour on a morning when it had been cleaned out but on the other side of the wall to the swimming pool is a corn field ang all bits of corn float into the pool by 10am you can't swim in it . There is a supermarket about a quater of a mile from Ikaros but if you want shops, restaurants and bars you need to take a 2 1/2 mile ride to the port. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere i have traveled all over the world and never come across anything like it. There are no direct flights to naxos you have to change in athens or catch a ferry which are not very reliable at the beginning of the season and trust me if your going to Ikaros its not worth it. I hope you take my advice find another hotel dont book in here.

Have stayed at 20+ hotels in greek islands over the past 12 years and this is probably one of the very best. I have never seen a pool cleaned so often. Owners and staff very friendly and super efficient. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2007

My fiance and I stayed here for 4 nights in early June, 2007, and absolutely loved the place. Room was simple, but very clean, comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for. There is about a 10 minute walk to the beach, which wasn't bad at all. And maybe 15 to 20 minutes to the heart of town where all the restaurants and action is. That is part of what we loved about Ikaros. You are just far enough away to not feel smothered by the crowds (which were still pretty light in June. August must be bad...) but close enough to easily get to town. We never touched the pool because the beaches in Naxos were so great, but the other guests at Ikaros seemed to like the pool

I would recommend renting an ATV to see the island and beaches. We got a small one (50cc) for 2 days and it was great. You can easily get to parts of the island that the buses won't take you, and you do it on your schedule. We also rented a car for a day so we could get into the mountain towns, but I preferred the 4-wheeler/ATV. The hotel staff is SO friendly and they can setup car or ATV rental to come direct to the Hotel. Very convenient.

My only complaint was that the AC costs extra. We decided we didn't need it and got bit up by bugs when we left the windows open. Really it was our fault. The Wireless internet in the hotel was also great.
