Wonderful inn close to all of what to see in Bachrach and surrounding towns but located in a quiet area of town. So much history in this area plus it's wine cournty. Check out on the web for photos. You'll be glad you stayed at Im Malerwinkel.

Tranquilly situated in idyllic surroundings. We stayed here overnight and have no hesitation in recommending this B&B. Our room was spacious and the breakfast generous. There is a very relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely room. We arrived at 9.20pm after a 7 hour drive. We advised of our late arrival over email although didn't give an exact time as we didn't know. When we arrived he seemed a little put out as to how late we were. Didn't have any information about the wifi or breakfast times etc in the room and we didn't like to ask after his initial reaction as we didn't want to call him back in. Found it strange that the soap dispensers were not attached to the wallls and just lying around in the bathroom.
Breakfast was lovely with a great selection.
We asked in the morning about the wifi, which doesn't work in the bedrooms (another couple also said theirs didn't either). They give you a login which you must sign for. We then sat down after taking our bags out of our room around 10.20am to try and book another destination as we didn't have this luxury the night before. At 10.34am (checkout is at 10.30) the man came over to us and said "there you are, we are waiting for you to check out". Talk about being made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

We were two grandparents, a daughter and two grandchildren spending two nights in two rooms. This was our favorite stay in Germany even though the rooms were up three flights of stairs (no elevator). Actually, our two largest suitcases were carried up by Mr. Bollmer, who was at the desk. The rooms were large and clean and free parking was conveniently at the front door. The breakfast was great. They had free WiFi. Bacharach is a lovely town with nice restaurants and in Malerwinkel is conveniently located to the town. We put the grandkids and daughter on a Rhein cruise at the Bacharach waterfront. There's a castle on a hill above Bacharach used as a youth hostel. The walk to this castle and the view you get of the Rhein from the castle is unbelievable. We could not tour the rooms of the castle, but we did walk into the courtyard and above the castle for views. Remains of the town wall are interesting and there is a great walk up along the grape orchards from one of the wall towers.

Room Tip: you might ask for a lower-level room, but I get the idea that a lot of their guests are longer term...

We stayed in room #42. It was a nice room / hotel in a great location. Staff was friendly. It has free parking and wifi. Would stay here again.

Everything was great about this place. We booked a double room but were given a triple room so it was very spacious (only paid double room price). It was a very good price, not the cheapest on our trip but certainly one of the cheapest I found in the area. Beds were comfortable too and it was lovely to have a private bathroom with good water pressure in the shower! Bathroom was a little dated but clean, the only thing 'wrong' with it was that the soap dispenser had come off the wall and was just sitting on the edge of the sink. It was still usable - you just squeezed it instead of pressing it against the wall - but it did look a little messy to have it just lying on the sink. Very minor problem.

The breakfasts were wonderful - three types of cereal to choose from, tinned fruit, yoghurt, bread (with a toaster to make toast if you wanted) with butter or margarine and several types of jams to choose from, bread rolls, various cold meats and cheeses, cucumber & tomatoes (which I didn't really understand - maybe it's a german thing??), juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and eggs! The hot chocolate wasn't great so I only got that once, and I'm not really sure what sort of eggs they were trying to make. They were served in egg cups which suggests they were supposed to be soft-boiled, but they were nearly hard-boiled (but not quite!). So I'm not really sure what they're aiming for there - I'm guessing they're over-cooking supposedly soft-boiled eggs. Everything else was great though. We looked forward to breakfast every morning!

It is only a very short walk from the main town square, and Bacharach is so small that everything is a short walk away. Nice gardens and the staff were friendly too.

This was our second stay at Im Malerwinkel and it was just as perfect as the first time in 2005. The gingerbread styled hotel was a welcome sight after our days of castle hunting. Our triple room was large, clean and comfy, with special welcoming touches. We rented great touring bikes at the hotel. The staff provided transportation to the train station and answered all our questions with efficiency. The price was very reasonable, the breakfast was quick and filling, and the little town was a joy to explore. Loved it all.
