“Really Terrific People and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

I LOVED this nice, quaint, clean, hotel. The people here were amazing and they cared about your stay. Even the guests were happy (I think partially due to the staffs attitudes). Nice breakfast with custom omlettes and the chef who worked the day I was there made the best omlette I've had in a long time.

Room Tip: No bad rooms.

After experiencing a tremendous lack of customer service or no customer service by Delta Airlines after a lengthy delay and the flight cancellation...a complimentary shuttle ride provided by the Hilton Garden Inn...a courteous, personal greeting from manager Prashant Patel to our shuttle upon arrival...complimentary waters, an awesomely clean and roomy king suite....and an excellent dining atmosphere....all helped turn a terrible airport experience into a remarkable night! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Even though the room smelled musty, probably due to the in room air conditioning unit, it unfortunately not all that unusual for most hotel rooms to smell even worse. I don't know how to overcome the problem. In any event, the room was very clean, fresh linens, a nice selection of pillow firmness on the bed. Granite countertops and the little kitchenette was nice; however, some utensils other than coffee stirrers would be nice. The little coffee pot was difficult to operate and I didn't care for the Bath and Body Works shampoo and conditioner, but the other Neutrogena soaps were nice. When I checked in I was told that breakfast was served in the lobby on Saturday from 7 to 11. It made it sound like it was included with the room. Luckily, we did not take any of the food that had been sitting out and looked old prior to finding out it was an additional cost of $8.95 per person. We went elsewhere to get a cup of yogurt and a juice. Even though I make it sound not all that great, it was a very attractive hotel, clean, and quiet. I've stayed at several hotels in Newport News and compared to some, it could be rated five stars. I'll probably stay there again or try another one or two.

Room Tip: Don't assume breakfast is included with the room even if they make it seem this is the case. Cla...

Traveling with a feather allergy in a world doused with down pillows and blankets can be a nightmare! Fortunately, my stay at The Hilton Garden Inn in Newport News was a breathe of fresh air! I was so pleased with the impeccable service by Gervan at the front desk and the attention to detail provided by the executive housekeeper at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, the pool was relaxing and the hot tub was HOT! Most importantly, I didn't have to worry about my allergies or asthma! I definitely see why this hotel earned the top spot on Tripadvisor! Thank you Hilton Garden Inn- we will be back!

stayed here directly from what I read off of Tripadvisor, and it was all true.

Staff super friendly, on checkin, checkout, and anytime I just happened to ask questions or swing by the front desk to get coffee.

logistics: close to highway, 5 minutes to airport, GREAT sushi place and movie theater right next to place. Lots of fast food, Kmart, and grocery store all within walking distance.

Room: room was clean, big, had 2 queen beds, TV was right size, coffee maker, frig, and storage in room. only negative is that my sink hot water handle came "unscrewed" one day during my stay, thought that maid would have reported it, but didn't...didn't affect room or water, just thought that maid would have taken time to let someone know.

Hotel: nice place, coffe and what I think were cookies or something available in lobby all day. they had a jazz trio there in lobby/entrance about 2-3 times a week in evenings.business area was small, but had EVERYTHING I needed...it actually had a better layout and system then some of the larger hotel chains have. Pool was small,, nbut worked...I used the gym myself, 2 tredmills, 2 elipticals, and a bike...light weights...good enough for a light workout.

overall, great place to stay with everything you need closeby. I'll be staying here again when business brings me this way.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice. It is simply that terrific. Let's look at why this hotel rates above all the rest area:

Location: The hotel sits in a small strip mall area that has a theatre, shops and restaurants, but what I really loved is that is is across the street from a golf course community. For those of you who enjoy golf, you couldn't ask for anything more. It is also within minutes of major highways.

Staff: Incredible! They know the area, are able to appropriately point you in the right direction for shopping, dining and special attractions. Each night that we were there, we used their recommendations for restaurants and were never disappointed. The front desk are trained to act as concierge, and they do an outstanding job.

Services: Wi-Fi and a business center that is nicely appointed and quiet.

Dining: Many hotels have a breakfast service, which is true for this hotel, but it also has the following: a dinner service that is equal to any restaurant, and a jazz combo that plays on Wednesday evenings. It was so great to hear live music and not have to leave the hotel.

Rooms: The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed with comfy lounge chairs, great desk for work or if you choose to eat in. Rooms have been updated, and ammenities are very nice. Rooms are clean and the staff makes sure that you have anything that you need for your room.

Patio & Pool: Pool is large and fun for all. The patio is great for drinks- especially for those of us who don't swim, but just like to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

This hotel has everything and is centrally located to everything that you might want to get to. Williamsburg was only 20 minutes away, while Virginia Beach was an easy 45 minutes. It is a perfect location for a family or couples vacation. It is simply the best hotel in the area.

The hotel was very quiet, clean and the staff very professional/friendly! A movie theater, grocery store, shopping center, gas station and restaurant and fast food establishments are all within a 2-3 minute walk. The only disappointing things was that the beds were very hard and not at all the garden sleep system the hotel chain is known for! The breakfast was good but a little pricey.
