“A lovely place to stay with friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

Contrary to some of the recent opinions posted about this residence, we were extremely satisfied with the whole pakcage. The appartement was well-equiped and clean. Beds were very comfortable, linen and towels of good quality.
As expected, the appartment wasn't very big, but perfectly suited a family of four (we opted for a 5/6 persons' appartement with one normal size bedroom and a smaller one for the kids).
Travelling with young children we were also delighted about the calmness of the area. Access to the ski lift and the free bus service were only a 100m down the road. Same distance to the small grocery store, bar/restaurant and baker's shop (try the freshly baked waffles after a day of skiing!).
I would also recommend to ask for a view on the ski lift - this way you wil benefit from the lovely view and the sun during the day.
The Premium Breakfast service is a must - always on time (7.45 / 8.00 am) and fresh out of the oven.
Most of all, we were very pleased with the friendliness and the professional attitude of the ladies at the reception. We would definitely recommend.

Welcomed by lovely staff who remembered our name and room number when we ordered bread each day. Family of 6, 3 adults 3 chidren. No problems in a 2 bed apartment ( of course we had to respect each others space and share storage areas but having been in self catering before we were prepared for this). Apartment well equiped and clean, (I always have a cleaning kit ready but really didn't need it.) Lovely bed linen and towels. We were short of a quilt cover but that was given to us as soon as we asked. Stayed in chalet D. Snow condidtions were excellent and we could ski door to door. Even in poorer conditions the ski lift is literally only 100m away from ski store. Bakery, shop, restaurant, pub, ski hire just up the road. Resort facilities were not required as the ski-ing was so good but handy to have just in case. Used the free bus services on ocasions with tired youngsters, no problem. Would definately return.

Room Tip: ask for one facing the ski lift. Lovely view with afternoon sun and can see all the comings and goi...

We stayed here in Meribel Village for 2 weeks in Chalet C and it was comfortable. The apartments are equipped with electric heaters in each room which work well (one in one bedroom was broken, but this did not adversely affect the temperature of the room). Our apartment also had a TV with some British channels (CNN, BBC, ITV), and a good sized kitchen.

The washing machine was broken which was disappointing, but everything else in the apartment worked fine (apart from the silly touch activated cooktop which would misbehave when wet).

The apartments are right across from the Golf lift, and access to Meribel Centre is via bus. The buses were reliable most of the time (but some services did not show up, for whatever reason), and the trip is approx 5-10mins (around 3km). The last bus from town in the evening is at 0030, which if you miss this, a cab can be found for approx 16 Euro.

There is WiFi available in the main lodge reception area, where there are also couches on which you can lounge to use the internet/read french magazines (the internet is rather slow however, around 8KB/s). There is also a fitness area (treadmill, elliptical, 2 bikes, 2x 8kg dumbells, stretching mats) and swimming pool, sauna and steam room free for guest use in the same reception building.

We additionally booked a host through SkiFrance, which was poor value in our opinion as I believe I could cook better meals myself, and the host hardly cleaned the common areas. They also did not show up some mornings to prepare breakfast, which was extremely poor, as our breakfast supplies some mornings were also very low limiting our options.

Room Tip: Chalet A, B and C are closest to the village area and the snow, the other chalets are situated furth...

We stayed here as our first family skiing trip and it was ideal for that. Although we were disappointed at first with the standard of the accommodation given it was marketed as "Finest", as the week went on we learned to live with it. The free local buses into Meribel ran regularly so we spent most of the time out of the rooms and when we needed anything urgently or the morning breads we were well catered for on the resort.

We have just come back from a week's stay at Les Fermes de Meribel during February Half Term. 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 7 year old in our group, so we booked a 2 room apartment for 6 people. The aparmtent was tiny - how 6 people are meant to stay in there is beyond me! We had a sofa bed in the 'living area' but you couldn't open it as there wasn't the room! So my husband and I took it in turns to sleep on the sofa while the other one shared the very small double bed with our daughter. If you have ever stayed in a caravan or mobile home then that is what the apartment reminded me of. The kitchen area was tiny, no worktop space to put anything and no oven, just a microwave with grill which I couldn't work out how to use! The shower in the bedroom was separated from the room by a curtain and again was tiny, with mildew all around the top. One small cupboard in the twin room but the shelf was broken so you couldn't put anything on it - we tried to prop it up with a tin of deodorant but in the end didn't use it as it kept collapsing so in the end my children didn't unpack their suitcase as there was nowhere to put their clothes. All in all a very disappointing apartment. However, Meribel was great!

Thank you for taking the time to post an account of your stay. We are glad to hear you liked the central location of Meribel. We're sorry to hear the negative parts of your stay with us. Firstly we apologise that cleanliness of the apartment was not up to our usual high standards. We are also sorry that you were disappointed with the furnishings and size of your apartment. Our website and brochures outline room dimension, sizes, furnishings and equipment available. We do encourage that larger groups to be generous with the size of rooms they book to ensure they have enough space to be comfortable. We also encourage customers who are unhappy with their rooms to speak to our staff in the resort to ensure details such as broken equipment can be rectified as soon as possible. We have logged your review on the resort and will pass your comments onto head office and our management teams.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at P&V Les Fermes de Meribel. After reading some negative reviews of the accommodation we were a little concerned about the apartments. We had made 2 prior requests before arriving, 1 for a newly refurbished apartment and 2 for an apartment in Chalet A. Both requests were met and we were thrilled with the apartment and the location. The apartment had been recently refurbished and had been equipped with a new dishwasher and combi oven which was brilliant. I do agree with some of the comments regarding the size of the apartment as our group of 4 had booked the "Apartment Classic 2-bedroom apartment for 6 people" but it would have been a very tight squeeze if there had of been 6 people in our apartment. The pool and sauna area was lovely and so nice to visit in the evenings after a long day on the slopes. The pool temperature was not cold at all. The reception is absolutely gorgeous with a big open fire and pool table. The staff were lovely and very helpful with any requests.

The location of Meribel Village is great. The Lodge du Village restaurant which is just opposite the lifts serves big portions of delicious food at reasonable prices and the bar above has some very cool bands playing. We had a great time seeing the band “Bring Your Sisters”. We found the bar in Meribel Village more lively than most in Meribel Centre, although the night life in Meribel Centre kicks off around midnight. The buses running between Meribel Centre and Meribel Village are not that regular in the evenings.

Overall, we had a fantastic week and really enjoyed our stay at the apartments. We would visit again.

Was tempted to try this accommodation for our next ski trip in 2011, until I read all the lousy reviews on Tripadvisor...

Spoke to my travel agent and they made enquiries with P&V Vacances. She spoke to the receptionist of Les Fermes de Meribel and they said that 40 of the apartments in the building are going to be refurbished before the start of winter 2010/11. They said that if you would like to book a newly refurbished apartment you can request one, although they will not 100% guarantee it. Presumably they will be charging the same price for the un-refurbished and the refurbished regardless, which seems unhelpful...

Many thanks for posting a comment, unfortunately as you have not actually stayed at the property we cannot comment too much. We are pleased to say that the property is currently being refurbished over the winter months and many of the rooms will be available to skiers in the new rooms. Please do keep an eye on our website for the latest offers and announcements.
