Stayed for a 10 days over Christmas at a cost of over $5,000 per person. Ouch! At this cost, accomodations, food and service should be impeccable. They were not. Accomodations were excellent, but cramped. Our bedroom reeked of fresh paint fumes; ventilation was non-existent. Lounge, dining room and bedroom decoration was superb, but actual finishings were spotty. E.G., skiers need (lots of) coat hooks in the rooms; there were none! Baseboards were hardly nailed into the walls in places. For all the attempt to be a small, intimate hotel, the massive bedroom doors were better suited to bank vaults. The restaurant fare (I'm no critic) seemed to be trying a little too hard. Table service during the 5-6 course meals was erratic. Crisp and attentive for some courses, during others you felt like you were lost in the Sahara and would have to crawl out on all fours. The spa/pool area is miniscule with lounge chairs for two (2) people only. The ski room was impeccable in every way, with easy access slopeside. All of this might have been salvaged had the service been impeccable. Sadly, although the staff was eager and energetic, one became exhusted by their frenetic efforts to keep up. The hotel easily could have benefited from twice the number of staff. Next time, St Moritz Kulm -- hands down.
