“Breat Restaurant in Bonnieux”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

It was our first night in Bonnieux. I had actually made the reservation before leaving the US. I was glad I did because the restaurant was full. The decor are lovely. We had the red pepper layered with goat cheese appetizer with roasted tomatoes. Its was not only beautiful to look at, it was delicious! My husband had rabbit for the first time and he loved it. I had fish and it was also very good. For dessert we both had the cooked pear covered in chocolate with a vanilla sauce. Dinner was delicious. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Definitely would come back to L'Arome for another enjoyable meal.

“Great meal and a great value to boot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

October 6. We each had the Menu Gourmand for 43 Euros. It's a charming place with rough stone walls and a vaulted ceiling. People were happy to be here. Cozy and warm. Entrees were a wonderful risotto with lobster and wild mushrooms with a dark rich sauce, and asparagus served in two variations -- as a drink with whipped foam atop and with tips wrapped in ham. Mains were an assortment of three fish very well prepared and a wonderful veal loin with a huge marrow bone on the side -- three solid inches of marrow almost as big as the veal itself (perhaps a bit much?). A cheese course served with a pungent fig jam. And for dessert, a poached pear coated in chocolate sauce and served with a creme anglaise, and an amazing orange gelee served with frozen custard and a piece of orange cake. A very nice bottle of white from across the valley went down nicely. At 118 Euros it was just great. The place was packed and for good reason.

“Very pleasant Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

We try to find somewhere special for Sunday lunch when we're traveling, and we recently chose L'Arome in Bonnieux, based on its reputation and our enjoyment of the village.

We booked well ahead, and were shown to a quiet table near la cave, as requested in the reservation. Service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing, and we were soon enjoying a glass of champagne, and amusé bouche of petit pois soup, which was a delightful taste.

We chose from the menu du marché, her entree a delightful a tartelette of marinated sardines with various legumes, and mine a tasty pressée de poivrons, with a tomato confit and chèvre frais with honey. Very tasty, although the peppers with goats cream cheese is perhaps a tad heavy and rich for mine.

We both had roast rabbit for main, which was well cooked and flavorsome, but again a little richer than I imagined. Delightfully presented, the only problem was my choice rather than the meal.

For desert, she had a wonderful trio of orange: in jelly with a marzipan/almond creme, orange cake, and honey ice cream. Lovely fresh tastes, but quite rich. My desert was a new menu item, poached pear with chocolate, and white chocolate wafer and vanilla sauce. Quite lovely., quite rich.

With two glasses of champagne and a bottle of Luberon red, the bill came to €127, which was about fair for the quality, service and meal style.

This is a good restaurant but you will find better value in the area. I would happily return, though, perhaps making lighter choices next time.
