“You gotta stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

My husband and I took advantage of this wonderful bed and breakfast opportunity as they opened their inn to veterans in celebration of veteran's day. We had a fabulous stay at this gorgeous inn. Our hosts were delightful and welcoming. We had a lovely room and went out to a wonderful restaurant suggested by Carol and Ron. We then returned to watch the Virginia Tech football game in the firelite family room with Ron-too fun!! Carol had made some wonderful treats for us to enjoy as we watched the game.
We enjoyed an incredible breakfast and lingered at the patriotically decorated table while enjoying the company and conversation of the other vets.
A delightful stay at this working farm.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with it's own bathroom.

My fiancee and I stayed here in late July. We had a fantastic experience! Staying on a working farm is very cool, particularly if you have children! The scenery is idyllic, the breakfast was wonderful and the room was perfect. The hosts made dinner suggestions for us which couldn't have been better. We would definitely return here without hesitation!

We stayed for 4 nights at this wonderful farm-setting B&B. Carol and Ron Baker are top-notch hostess and host. The house is restored while keeping the ambience of its original build in the 1800's. We had a large room with two double beds and a private bath. The amenities - as my daughter said, "all the upscale hotel amenities in a country setting." The food was the best - fresh eggs from the farm, grass-fed beef, homemade scones, granola, fresh fruit and much more. The warm breakfast entrees were fabulous! And the coffee - never had better!! We had access to a refrigerator so we were able to pack lunches for our outdoor excursions. The activity in the nearby area - hiking, Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Mountain Lake, New Rivers Edge - all within 10-20 minute drive from the B&B location. Liked best - Carol and Ron and the comfort we felt in the home. Liked least - I can't think of a thing.

Before taking a road-trip from Atlanta to New England through the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, we decided to look for somewhere more exciting to stay than the normal hotel. I searched and found the perfect place - The Huffman House at Creekside Farm Bed and Breakfast. It was a picture perfect farm beside a beautiful creek between the rolling hills in the Shenandoah Valley. Ron and Carol Baker have done an amazing job restoring this 1835 farmhouse to include all the comforts of home. It’s like going to the grandparent’s house we all wish we had. We walked the paths around the farm and enjoyed seeing all of the farm-animals. Ron even took us in the corral to pet the week-old foals. Our bedroom was large and beautifully decorated with a private bath, and the beds and linens were comfy soft. Breakfast was a home-cooked feast, and a cup of tea on the porch swing afterward set our mood for the day. Whenever we are traveling in that area again, we will definitely stay at the Huffman House at Creekside Farm.

Room Tip: just call and talk to the owners

Me, my husband, my 91 year-old uncle, and two cousins came in from various parts of the country to visit Craig County, the home of our ancestors and located only a few miles from the Huffman House Bed and Breakfast. I chose it mostly because of the location and the fact that it looked pleasant online. This was an incredible find! The location is a little piece of heaven, the owners/hosts, Carol and Ron, have lovingly restored the home, preserving it's authenticity while adding all the mod cons you expect at a nice B & B. The food was delicious, the beds were unusually comfortable and the hosts genuinely warm without being overbearing. (The farm animals and pets would be a plus with children but be cautious if you have pet allergies.)

We have been to more elegant B & Bs, we've been to some with outstanding food, we've been to some with even more charming surroundings but we've never been to one that had every element we enjoy in a B & B. We WILL return!

Wow what an absolutely fantastic B&B. You name it and it was excellent, from the welcome through to breakfast the next morning. We were hiking the central Virginia section of the Appalachian Trial and this was our night of luxury and we were not disappointed.
If you are within 100 miles of The Hoffman House make the detour to stay I the best B&B in the world you will not be disappointed.

My husband, his parents, and I spent a lovely long weekend at Huffman House. This is a working farm, with sheep, horses, ducks, geese, turkeys, a few cattle, and even two donkeys grazing and meandering around the hillside. The grounds are beautiful, very hilly, with a creek running adjacent to the house. There is a rooster, and he does begin crowing early in the morning, but this did not bother us at all. The B&B is a renovated farmhouse, on which the owners Ron and Carol obviously spent a lot of time and effort. The result is a place that seems set back in time, but with all of the comforts of the 21st century. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the shower feels heavenly after an afternoon of hiking. There are many places to hike in the area, as the Appalachian Trail runs through the area about 1/2mile away from the B&B. Ron and Carol can suggest other places to hike, and you won't be disappointed. Southwest Virginia is absolutely gorgeous. Ron and Carol are also avid birders, and they have several active bird feeders set around the property. You can sit on one of their porches and watch the birds coming and going. The breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. Carol is a masterful chef. Our breakfasts included Baked French Toast (which my husband could not stop eating), Feta-Basil Egg Bake, fresh granola, yogurt, homemade baked bread, scones, and muffins, juice, and coffee. Delicious! There is always soda and bottled water available to guests in a guest refrigerator. Ron and Carol can also suggest some wonderful places to have lunch and dinner nearby. This is a place you will want to return to.
