'Hotel' situated in La Courade. Hardly a hotel just grotty cabins. Need a car to get to the beach. Very small village with a few restaurants. Room: 78 euros/breakfast not included. Very small, smelly & mouldy room, which smelt of chips [opposite the kitchens main chimney extractor]. Plumbing suspect. No hairdryer. Very thin walls. We were next to the cleaners store room and were awoken very early to one hell of a din as they were getting their stuff out to clean the area.
Had two Grand Crèmes at la Embourcadere in St Martin – which cost 8 euros!!! Ate at La Bellum – 20 euro formula meal – staff were friendly but meal not that good. We found Ile de Re very touristy and very expensive, and a bit of a rip off. Even during May it was hard to find a hotel room available. Think it’s probably best to stay at one of the Ile de Re’s campsites or bring your own combi camper! Great place though to ride a bike and just get out and about back to nature!
