“Lovely place, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

We have just returned form a three night stay at this Hotel/lodgings, and had a great time.
A very warm welcome from Isabella (who speaks very good English) who then showed us around the small complex.
The rooms were spotlessly clean, basic but with tea/coffee making facility and a small fridge (I do think that is was meant for a mini bar, but we put some small items in it) The breakfast area was well laid out and extremely clean.
As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a small sitting area outside your room, as it was out of season for our visit, this posed no difficulty as we did not have neighbours, but it may be busy in the summer. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the towels were changed and tea / coffee restocked daily, the room was also cleaned and the bed made daily.
We did not use the pool as it was closed, but we were able to sit around the pool after a hard day's cycling!
We found the area very central and we cycled daily to all the other villages in the area, St Martin, La Flotte (Beautiful), Ars en Re and Loix and Porte en Re were really rather a surprise.
All in all Il de Re is known to be an expensive Island, but we found this Hotel to be great value. The continental breakfasts may not be to everyone's taste, but we found it extremely fresh, plentiful and nothing too much trouble for Isabella.
This island is perfect for cycling and getting away from it all....after our hectic season at www.serendipityfrance.co.uk we really needed a break, which we had and enjoyed it thoroughly! We certainly hope to return.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay here. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and tidy with sheet/towel change every day. Breakfast was very welcome in the morning (croissant, cereal, juice etc) to set you up for a days exploring by bike.
We found that despite several more noisy apartment complexes we rode past, La Villa Passagere is a lovely oasis in the middle of it all, with it's own pool which gets the sun until well into the evening.
The only slight downside is the bedrooms are not huge, but then who stays in their room all day?!
This was a great find and we'd certainly stay there again, even having seen all the other places in the area.

Room Tip: All appartments look fairly similar, but maybe ask for one on the end for that extra privacy

We stayed 3 nights and were quite happy with the fhelpful service and hotel in general. The room has a decent size, and has everything you need, only the bathroom was a little on the small side, but all was clean; it is nice to have a terrace with beach chairs in front of the room, the breakfast is good, the pool is small but very pleasant after a day biking, and the hammam very hot. The location is also good, walking distance from the center of Bois Plage, in the center of the island, and the garden of the hotel is cute and well maintained. The only down side is the price compared to other properties we stayed at during our tour of France, but Ile de Re is a very expensive place.
Overall a nice friendly hotel, we enjoyed our stay and the island very much.

The location of the hotel in Bois means you are roughly in the mid-point of ile de re. This way you can easily cycle to Ars as well as St Martin. The beach is a good 10mins walk away but not difficult. The rooms at the hotel feel like you have your own little terraced house which makes the place look very charming. You typically get a big breakfast in the morning and tea/coffee facilities in the room. The only slight disappointment is that although there is a pool in the hotel, it is too small and curved to have a proper swim. Probably ok for children though.

However, what was truly astonishing is how warm and charming the staff at the hotel reception are. I have never had such a warm welcome to a hotel which included a personalised tour of the place.

Worth noting, the hotel has secure parking but you have to pay for it. If you want, there is ample free parking space at the back of the hotel (but clearly it is not under lock and key!).

This is a small complex in a very quiet area; located half way between the beach and the village. The staff were excellent particularly Isabella the lady in charge. Breakfast was from 8am -10.30 every day and when she discovered that we were leaving for the airport by taxi at 8am Isabella told us the night before that she would arrive early so that we could have breakfast; she arrived at 7am !! Breakfast was continental buffet style and very good-juices, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, selection of breads and croissants, tea/coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for this lady.
The complex as I said was very small but very well laid out with your own patio area with deckchairs. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. There is a small pool available with sun lounges but not to venture to the miles of beautiful beach would be a shame.
Would have been great to have a good restaurant nearby but one could avail of the camping site restaurant next door where the food was very basic but good and not expensive. The chef here would make up your order on a plate, wrap same with tin foil and set you on your merry way complete with napkins and cutlery-a nice touch. All he requested was that you return the items he gave you.
I would recommend hiring bicycles as this gives you the opportunity to explore this beautiful island. The countryside is varied and really beautiful and each town unique. Beware of travelling on French bank holidays as we saw tailbacks for 15kms waiting to cross the bridge to La Rochelle -incredible!! We were told this was the first time such a traffic jam occurred but if you were trying to get a flight you should check this out first.

Room Tip: No great views and all rooms seemed to be the sams

After stayin in another hotel on the island that wasn't very quiet, we were looking for a place to burn off the jet lag. The staff was superb and was very helpful in rescheduling our travel plans due to a train strike. The room was comfortable and farily large and the fridge was perfect for storing some food. The location to the beach and town was great. Would definately stay there again.

This place sits somewhere between a hotel and a set of self-catering flats (very good ones at that). There is a reception manned until 8pm and they clean the rooms and serve breakfast. But apart from that, you are very much left to come and go as you please. Rooms are situated around a pool and each one has its own decked area, deckchairs, desk, tea & coffee making facilities etc. People come and go to the beach (which is 5 mins away at the end of the road), hire bikes and leave them outside the room, and make use of the pool as well as the other delights of Re. Service is friendly and helpful, but not outstanding. Likewise the rooms are really nicely appointed and clean but nothing spectacular. However, it's good value for Ile de Re and overall a good, clean, modern base from which to enjoy your break. Recommended
