“fill up that last half circle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Yesterday, 15-07-2012 had diner in L'ardoise. The service was excellent and the food also. The formula is simple: a three course meal of choice (4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts) or the same meal and cheese added. The food is original, French/Normand but with a little modern twist. What should be mentioned is that the wine list has some very affordable wines on it. We've had Ricard apperitive, a formules (with cheese) a bottle of Lussac St. Emilion, coffee and a glass of brandy / Benedictine as an digestive. and the bill stayed under € 100,-- The salad with smoked ham was delicate and the tenderloin-steak with camenbertsauce very well prepared. The choice of cheese they offered was exquisite and the chocolate-fondant was the best I've ever had. Crunchy on the outer 4 mm. and warm running on the inside.

“Charming and delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

After a lot of research for restaurants, in the small town of Fecamp, suitable for a birthday dinner (fine-dining but not too old-school), I found L'Ardoise. The only place I could find to make reservations online was through http://www.normandieresto.com/ficheresto.php?id=575. And the confirmation email wasn't totally clear that the restaurant had been notified of my request. But, it worked. I chose it based on their fresh seasonal ingredients, young chef, and the photos. Everything, including service, was excellent except the guys didn't love the entrecote cut of meat, although it's possible it was appropriate for that style of steak (so I rated 4 instead of 5). My sea bass with crispy skin was amazing, though. Reasonable price for the number of courses and quality, too.

“Lucky happenstance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

Arriving late in Fecamp our usual first choice of restaurant CHEZ NANOUTE was
fully booked - luckily L'Ardoise was just around the corner and we found a little treasure. It is more expensive (a bill of E68 instead of E40) but food was imaginative and atmosphere very convivial - conversations between tables, cheerful staff a bit run off their feet but keeping us all happy, well-behaved kids out for the evening with extended family; really lovely.
3-course menu or a la carte with seasonal specials. We were also given a shot-glass of leek veloute while we waited for our starter (they desperately need another waiter before the summer season!) We had a shrimp souffle and crab tart, cod in cider cream and turbot in saffron sauce, creme brulee with benedictine and a cote de provence rose to drink. It was a cold wet night but inside the restaurant there was a warm cosy ambiance where, if the service was slow it didn't matter - what was the rush ?
