“Just awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Stayed here en route to Burgundy. Arrived late after a delay on Eurotunnel. The car park gates were locked and apart from a small group of dodgy characters there seemed no one to help us to access the car park or building. It was dark and felt scary. We eventually got into the car park, and then into the hotel, it seemed full of folk who might otherwise be in a homeless hostel. The room was bleak, and whilst it was cheap, the lack of any charm was not offset by cleanliness. The toilets and showers were stinky, and the wash hand basin in our room was squalid. We left at 4 in the morning - lying awake with all the noise in the corridors all night _- I'd rather be wrecked in the safety of my car!
Never again - why didn't we pay a bit more and get somewhere where at least you could rest?

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

We stayed here, as do most people, straight off the channel tunnel then again immediately before returning home. This summer we had a 2 week motorcycling holiday in France so just needed somewhere to get our heads down before hitting the road again.

The hotel layout is exactly the same as all other F1 hotels, the rooms all look the same but we found it to be clean and fit for purpose. We chose F1 because of the price, and because of having a secure car park for the bikes. There is a large shopping centre very close to the hotel so we went there for dinner and bought a few beers to drink back at the hotel, there were tables and chairs outside and we sat outside and had a drink and a chat until late.

This F1 was different to all the others we stayed in whilst in France, as it isn't on an industrial estate, and I personally found Coquelles to be a sweet little place, not much there but pleasant enough.

We pre-paid for breakfast, it was ok although the orange juice was a bit too watered down on our outward stay, but maybe because it was the main holiday weekend and the staff wanted to make it go further.... The choice is limited but fine, and basically you would pay much more anywhere else to get any breakfast, so at less than 4 euro why complain, you surely didn't expect a full English??

The toilets were clean enough, the showers were good, power showers and adequate for an overnight stay. In the morning there was a bit of a queue though, but the hotel was quite full and I only waited about 10 minutes, so not the end of the world.

Summing up, you do get what you pay for, spend another 30 euro and you will get somewhere with a private bathroom if that is what you want, but if you choose the bottom of the budget end of the market, you really shouldn't complain that it is not top quality!

Room Tip: computer selects numbers at random but they are all the same, but do ask for non-smoking if that is...

We chose the hotel as a stepover for the car ferry to and from Dover - and both stays proved to be highly unpleasant! While the night before our journey to England was only characterized by heavy bodily odours and an odd itching of skin, the return journey's sleepover (haha) was infinitely worse: we arrived at the abandoned accomodation past midnight (as you would on taking the night ferry) and stood helpless against blood-stained sheets of bedding on top of the other shortcomings aforementioned. The only choice we had was to sleep in the car or lie on the bed fully dressed - and fully dressed includes shoes. I must say that I do tolerate a considerable number of mishaps, but even I draw the line at some point, and it was here. However, we will get the room refunded completely, and that is that. Not to be recommended. Méfiez-vous.

We stayed here after and before our Eurotunnel crossings, as it is minutes from the terminal. Travelling as Dad and daughter, we had to book separate rooms, which pushes the cost up, so the F1 chain are a good choice for keeping the costs down - €35 per room is about as low as it gets anywhere. We were unlucky and shared our night with a party of French schoolchildren, and the noise went on until the early hours. There seemed to be no staff on site to calm it down. Toilets and showers were cleanish, but far from perfect. But you can't beat the F1s for value. We were on a motorbike tour of France and Germany and stayed in others elsewhere. The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. That's good enough for me. I will seek out the nearest F1 on my next trip - reliable and adequate.

Breakfast is all you can eat (French-style) for under €4 - brilliant.

This hotel surprised me, it was very clean and 10mins drive from Cite Europe.

The shared toilets and showers were clean at all times.

I have stayed at this lotel (low cost hotel) on two separate occasions before a long ride on the motorbikes the following day. Conveniently It's only five minutes from the Channel Tunnel.

There maybe some reviews where people aren't happy but what more do you want for as little at £10pppn (based on three sharing)?

It's clean, you can't hear the neighbours, the rooms have a TV, you have your own sink, the beds are comfortable however it would be nice if rooms were non-smoking as the smell lingers - and I gave up smoking over a year ago!

The showers and toilets are located throughout the building and the nearest one is always just down the corridor so be armed to take some shorts and light footwear as will make it easier to get changed. The showers were hot and powerful.

The breakfast the following morning is not included in the price but at the cost of under €4 you can eat as much as you like from a limited selection available. Not bad value really.

Words of advice; if you are arriving at Formule 1 in the evening, make sure you have change for the vending machines.

All in all, for a one night quick stop over for a good price then I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: It's all pot luck really as the computer will decide.

This was a stop over on the way home from bruges, was basic but clean had a tv and wash hand basin in the room. room itself was very very basic and covers thin but it suited us at the tiny price we had paid, advice is to get up early for a shower as thats when they are the cleanest, having used formula 1 before i already knew this so was up early and getting organised, the continetal breakfast was fine for the price and suited our needs had all the basics toast, cereal and all that sort of stuff. This isnt for someone looking for a b&b or hotel experience cause its more of a hostel, if u want something slightly better try the etap hotels which are the next up in the chain, they have showers and bathrooms in the rooms

Room Tip: Stay off ground floor room, noisy and aviod close to toliets as noisy to
