“An Interesting Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

This certainly won't appeal to everyones tastes but you can still play on the beach. However, when viewing one of the remains I found myself sinking in quick sand! Watch Out!

“Good view from the 360 car park and the beach at Arromanche”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

A fantastic peace of British engineering, the sheer scale of which has to be seen to be believed, there were many reasons Overlord worked, but one of the key ones were the two mulberry harbours, meaning that a beach head could be established before aDeep water port had been liberated.

Even nearly 70 years later enough remains to see what a monumental undertaking it was.

“Appreciate the logistics behind D-Day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

I probably should have known about the Mulberry Harbours at Normandy, but I did not. Seeing the beaches (we saw Juno first then Omaha), I realized they really were just beaches with no docks for ships. At Arromanche, we saw the remains of an artificial harbour that had been constructed in England and towed to Normandy on the night of the D-Day landing. It was very busy for months, as the allies shipped in all the material they needed. The pieces that are left are huge metal or concrete blocks half buried in sand, plus some bits of dock. The little museum in town has many photos of the harbour in full operation.

“A piece of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

As others have mentioned there are really good views from the 360 parking lot. We got there a little early on a Sat. so ended up getting breakfast at a hotel on the beach with excellent views of the sea.

“Remembering D-Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Great place to see remains of the artificial harbor! For the best view go up the Arromanches 360 and look down. They even have pictures of how the harbor looked on D-Day.
