We visited the "cinematic" AFTER we had visited the landing beaches, a couple of museums and of course the cemetery's of the fallen!
So watching the footage on the screens was a very emotional experience! We were with our 2 children aged 7 and 8 years old. What a lesson we all learnt.
An elderly Frenchman we met whilst on holiday, who was 10 years old during WW2, informed us that "new and "unseen" footage for 2013 is in preparation for the 70 year anniversary next year. It's called Normandy's 100 days and I think that is a very useful piece of information. Especially if you've visited before and are thinking of returning.
Also worth knowing is the price, which I think is very reasonable, especially for families with young children- it cost my husband and I, €4.90 each and the children are free! So it's not worth missing out on this for under €10.
Don't forget to take in the spectacular view of Arromanches.. Rebuilt from the footage in the film. AMAZING.
