“An early evening meal whilst travelling.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Visited this restaurant early evening, 7pm.
A fair variety of light meals on offer and we chose Omelettes.
These were served with chips and a small amount of salad.
Location of restaurant is good overlooking beach and sea with remains of Mulberry Harbour.
Average, nothing special, and expensive for the food we bought.
Omelettes were 12.90, small beer 3. and orange juice 3.50, all Euros,
Will not go there again.

If you want luxury hotel look elsewhere, this is an old hotel with lots of charm in a great position. We chose the room with sea view option, both room and bathroom were compact but very clean which is our main criteria, bed also comfortable. We have discovered France is a nation of stairs, we travel light so this was not a problem for us. Had breakfast at hotel which is good option, all the staff helpful.
Nice little village with number of eating options. Close to all things you want to visit.

Room Tip: If you are making the trip to see the D Day beaches you should spend the extra few Euro to see it fr...

We have just come home from a 4 day trip to visit the D-day landing areas, initially we were going to bring our 11yr old grandson, But unfortunately he was taken ill and we had to leave on our own! We arrived on a very windy cold day at 12.30 and our rooms were not supposed to be ready until 2pm, but were pleasantly surprised as the room was ready for us and after a long early morning start and drive from Calais it was great to empty our cases and go an get some lunch. The hotel is in a wonderful situation right opposite Gold beach and one of the many Museums and just up the hill is the unmissable 360 deg cinema, the room was clean with a great shower plenty of hot water and lots of space, and as the weather was chilly the electric fire was a welcome site and very efficient. We went to dinner each night and found a varied menu which we enjoyed immensely, breakfast was buffet style with the usual continental items on offer but you could make a cup of tea which delighted me! Each day we were up and out by 9 am and did all the usual things, even got to Bayeux to see the tapestry and on our way home visited Honfleur but even though it was very pretty it was damp and drizzling so we headed to the Tunnel, a very emotional and interesting weekend which we will have to repeat and take the grandson back next year in time for the 70 yr memorials.

First impressions: Very well located on the sea-front. Smelt musty. Staff were smoking at the back of the restaurant - not a good look! Room was OK but we were glad that we were only stopping one night there.
We had breakfast there - 9.50 Euros - there was a good selection, but being British - used to our breakfast; was expensive for a few cereals and crossaints!
Restaurants in Arromanches also expensive.
I would not recommend this hotel, and I was disappointed, as was not the cheapest I have stopped in, by any means.

We traveled as a group of 8 and although we asked for 4 rooms with desperate beds we were confronted with 2 double beds. Initially the staff at hand could not sort it out that well, but we managed to swap around with some rooms for the night. The next day the manager was able to sort separate beds out and they were quick to correct the mistakes.
I was on the first floor & front of the building which was lovely: Magnificent view!

Facilities are basically French. Weird bathroom setup and light switches but if you have stayed in French hotels before there would be no surprise.

Food in the restaurant was good and very busy. Breakfast was good too. Free hotel parking is very tight and if you get there late, non-available. there is a communal car park in front of the hotel which I believe was free overnight (from x hours till y hours). Oh and there is free WIFI in the hotel which had a descent speed.

Location wise you cannot go wrong. Beach & museum in front, museum and great views on top of the village. And most other WW2 sites within easy reach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front.

If your looking for a resort hotel, look elsewhere. This is a reasonably priced place to sleep and eat while you explore the history on all sides for the hotel. We visited in the off season and had English Channel view rooms. My wife and I had one the larger rooms with the bay window which actually opened on all three side by the way allowing the sound of waves to be heard in the room. The remains of a Mulberry is right outside the hotel across the street. We ate two dinners and two breakfasts and the dinners were excellent. The breakfasts were set up buffet style with fresh cooked eggs available to go with the other items. Loved the rounded over stair steps from the many feet that have trod over them. Would I stay here again? Definitely,. Would I recommend it to friends, I would but telling them the same thing as the opening line of my review. This is a place to eat and sleep, not a place to lounge by the pool and have staff bring you drinks with little umbrellas and fruit slices. We were out of the hotel by 8:30 am and didn't come back until after 7:30pm both nights. The Muzak playing in the dinning room is from WW-1 and WW-II. We noticed it was English and American one night and French the next.

Room Tip: Rooms with the bay windows are larger.
