Municipal is a small campsite located a two minute walk from Arromanches les Bain, which is the site of the D-Day Gold Beach landings and the Mulberry Harbour built shortly after D-Day - the ruins of which are still visible today.
The campsite is far from the "super" sites you usually see in France, it doesn't have ten swimming pools etc. however it does have really friendly staff, free hot & clean showers, free freezer service and is seconds from tennis courts and the beautiful sea side town and beach of Arromanches. Not to mention that it is ideally located as a base for exploring all the D-Day landing sites and Bayeau (the bus stop for Bayeau is right outside the campsite and the journey is only about 20 minutes!). It took us about two hours to drive from Cherbourg so its also handy for the ferry.
Arromanches les Bain itself is one of the livelier towns (although its far from a clubber's paradise!) along this coast, it has lovely restaurants and friendly locals. My top tip is drink the local cider and eat plently of moules & the local salted caramels... delicious!
