“Very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

The hotel/restaurant is spread over several buildings. The rooms are small but not tiny - two adult males in our group shared a double room with two beds, although not all rooms are set up that way, so make sure ahead of time if that's your situation. The restaurant is quite good, the prices a bit high, I'd recommend Belle Vue (less than 10 minutes away by car) instead; this sounds perhaps overly negative, so if it's more convenient to eat at the hotel please don't be dissuaded. Breakfast more than adequate. It's a good ten minute walk to the center of town but on the plus side it's very very quiet. A new terrace (not very large) is under construction and will doubtless be available next spring. Management was very helpful with our several special requests.

Nice Hotel/Restaurant on the Lauter River, 1 km from Wissembourg, city center. Calm, nice rooms and very good food (a little expensive). From there, you can explore the Weinstrasse in Germany and the Vosges du Nord in Alsace. Strasbourg and Karlsruhe is only a jump (45 min).

The water can be heard from all the rooms with the windows open. I have stayed in 4 of them. Make sure to ask for a room with a stand alone shower, not all rooms have one. The owners are good at making you feel comfortable. They just renovated the restaurant. Looks great and the food is really good. Great high level service and presentation. The husband wife team of service and chef have hit a good balance of style and traditionalism. The walk along the river to La Place Republique helps to work off the great meal and takes 5 minutes.

We spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel and recommend it highly! One of the things that folks are concerned about is the distance from the "action", and it truly is only about 10 minutes from the "downtown". We stayed in a room that had a balcony and enjoyed glorious weather with the sounds of birds and breeze and nothing else. There is a water wheel on the other side of the building and from that side, one hears the rushing water, another lovely sound. The place was very clean, the staff very pleasant and discreet, and the restaurant on premise was yet another wonderful experience. We would return in a heartbeat!

Fantastic restaurant and the hotel gets high marks as far as European hotels go. The rooms are very spacious, clean and well organized. Unfortunately, they've placed all the rooms facing the courtyard rather than the lovely stream that passes by the other side of the building. The fares for the room were very reasonable.
The addition to the restaurant has resulted in the loss of the fantastically scenic outdoor tables which will be sorely missed come Spring / Summer. The new glass and frame construction also takes away from the historic ambiance that makes Wissembourg so popular.
The food and service is very good and a great value. Dinner was well presented and served.

Room Tip: Book your reservations in advance for this very popular restaurant.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Stayed one night at the Moulin in April, a beautiful time to visit this lovely town. Positives: the hotel was spotless and there is Wifi connection. A short, scenic walk to downtown along the canal. Cons: the hotel is located right by a beautiful rushing river with a mill, but every room but one faces the grassy area behind the building and there is therefore no view of the river or sound of the water in the rooms (only from the hallway!). This would be a fabulous hotel if it was situated differently (what were they thinking?) The hotel also had a strong floral scent, so if you're bothered by fragrance this might be an issue. Walls are a bit thin. If we return to Wissembourg, we will find a hotel in the center of town. There is nothing really "wrong" with Moulin de la Walk, but I think it's overpriced given the lack of view. We also skipped the breakfast and went into town to a great cafe where we sat outside and watched the people. Sat. morning there's a lively market in the center of town.

Room Tip: Ask for the one room that overlooks the river. If we could have stayed in that room my review might...

this hotel was modern and rooms were very comfortable. It should be a better logis rating than this. Hotel restaurant was excellent. No kettle in room. Wifi connection is fine.
