“Choir Tour to Belgium”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We stayed at Hotel Pax whilst on tour with Wakefield Cathedral Choir. This hotel was well situated in Diksmuide, making it an ideal base for our concerts in Brussels,Brugge and Ghent.
The accommodation was modern, the rooms were clean with modern bathrooms and hot water 24/7 which is not always the case in many hotels I have stayed in,together with a pleasant friendly host.
Breakfast was taken in the hotel, whilst we had a short walk around the corner to Hotel Pax's sister hotel for dinner.Dinner at Hotel Vrede was very good indeed, with a nightly hot buffet with plenty of choice to suit all of our party of adults and choir boys, even some local specialities for us to try.The hostess seemed to genuinely enjoy feeding the children, whose plates were left empty .

I would seriously recommend both these hotels as a base for visiting the Battlefields and exploring the pleasant Belgium countryside, with a good Tourist Information Centre right in the centre of town.

My husband and I have stayed at the PAX on several different business trips. The owner/manager is a wonderful and accommodating man. He does almost everything himself at the PAX from bar-tending, checking guests in and running the breakfast buffet in the morning. Diksmuide is a lovely little city situated about 15km from the coast, so the PAX hotel is a great home base if you are into renting a bike and exploring the beautiful country of Belgium. Go to the information center in Diksmuide and ask for bike route information and where to rent a bike. You will be surprised how accessible the coast is by bike. This city is only a 40 minute train ride from Brugge as well. If you are looking to stay in the area, choose the PAX and you will be happy you did!

Have just had a stay at Best Western Hotel Pax.
This is a fab hotel, ideally situated within walking distance to town and easy reach for cemeteries etc.
Friendly caring staff, nothing too much for them.
Reasonably priced.
Clean and modern.Fab rooms.
Would recommend and also return.

Room Tip: All rooms we had booked were great but we were in 401 which is like a suite.

Stayed here for just one night on a tour. As we arrived late and left early did not have a lot of opportunity to provide in depth review but our impresssions were - very large, well appointed room with two single beds, lots of hanging space and a warm, very well appointed bathroom. A small but convivial bar area and a standard breakfast - all you can eat 'continental style'. We received a friendly if not effusive welcome and the hotel was very modern and even a bit sterile - hence the title. Would stay here again but only as a base - the hotel does not lend itself to providing more than bed and bath.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2010

This may be the best hotel in Diksmuide and it is well situated for tours to the World War battlefields and it could be really good with a little TLC.
Our room had a sofa in it full of holes and not worthy of a junk shop. The bathroom was large but the shower soap dish was broken from the wall and just lying on the floor. The beds were comfortable but the light was inadequate for reading. With no pictures or decoration of any sort on the walls the room did not have that welcoming feel that you need in a hotel. We were at the back of the hotel so the room was quiet but many of our group were in the front and complained of the noise from the bars opposite in the early hours of the morning.
The bar area is adequate but very clinical and serves nothing but drink, some sort of snacks or sandwiches would have been very welcome.
As mentioned in an earlier review, the breakfast is just adequate with fresh rolls and cereals, but forget the so-called orange juice as it was the worst we have ever tasted in any hotel.
